Absence : Confirming how days are counted

Just confirming how absence days are computed by home office. Reason for confirmation is that naturalization applications and HMRC methodology is different. Leave 1 June 11:45 pm: Arrive on 3 June 5 am: Days of absence = 1 as days of travel are not counted? or 2 as not present on 1 June midnight. It...

Thanks - if my spouse (EU national) leaves the UK prior to my BC application - 1./ Does it create a problem in terms of the two applications having been linked all these years (no change to relationship, she is keen to move out asap to sunny climes). Re: Naturalization Applications - Lawyers, Leaving country & intent to settle

Thank you. That's helpful. I am concerned that 1./ saying to HMRC in Jan 2026 that i left UK from April 5, 2025 and no longer a tax resident creates a problem when - i had an application pending on April 5 2025 (assume the submission was in March 2025) and i did not update my intent - Same thing if i...

That's concerning - Then how does one prove to airlines etc - i travel from exotic parts of the world to UK and i doubt they would let me board the flight without one?
My BRP expires in Aug 2024 -> what about the intervening period to Dec 2024.

Once the home office approves pre settled status to settled status - does one need to apply for another BRP with settled status on it or the HO sends it automatically with application approval?

Re: Pre Settled to Settled Status

Considering it takes some time to process - can we apply for a switch to settled status now (2-3weeks before 5 years are complete) rather than apply after 5 years are complete.
Sorry about the confusion.

Settled Status Expiry & Absence period for naturalization

Hi, 1.) In case someone who gains settled status keeps coming back to UK regularly every year (1-2 days as a tourist/for business) - will the settled status ever expire? 2.) Re: Gaps in UK stay: Presettled to Settled Status and Citizenship

I had another technical query on dates From pre settled to settled - one can apply on the day one came to UK under the EUSS route - correct? Re: Gaps in UK stay: Presettled to Settled Status and Citizenship

Re: Gaps in UK stay: Presettled to Settled Status and Citizenship

Thank you, That's very helpful. Re: EU settlement - Non EU family member - CoA and decision time

It isn't valid to extrapolate from the EEA FM application timeliness to the new process. The process, the documentary burden and even the casework teams are different. However, the EEA FM timelines can point at the probable worst case delays for the new process. The data you have written down seems...

Re: EU settlement - Non EU family member - CoA and decision time

While the COA for the non EU family members arrive earlier perhaps, I haven't come across anyone issued with a fresh and new BRP as a part of the pre settlement process. Re: EU settlement - Non EU family member - CoA and decision time

The voting choices are inclusive...so it doesn't help much. Timelines on average have been reducing over last few months on the traditional EEA FM process. Though renewal Vs first time information wasn't disclosed. Compiling those typically COA is received 3-9 days after biometrics. Most being recei...

RC wait - Does asking HO to consider urgently help

Hi, On the forum I have seen typical processing times of 3 - 11 days between receipt of COA and RC. I have a prospective employer who will not consider candidature without the BRP and I am wondering if it's any help to contact the Home Office. Would be over 15 days by end of week. They state that th...
