Will my application be rejected?

I will complete 1 year on ILR in July 2010. I got ILR through 4 years on HSMP (JR) and I am an IT contractor. I have not worked for the past 2 months and I have not claimed any benefits. I am living off my savings and start a permanent IT post in August. Prior to stopping work I worked continously f...

John and other experts, please help!

Does Paternity Pay count as "public funds". I got ILR 6months ago. I am a self employed IT contractor working through a Ltd Company. I want to pay myself statutory Paternity Pay when I go on paternity leave in a few weeks. It's not listed on the BIA list of "public funds" but I j...

Mods and Experts please help: Paternity Pay with Ltd Co

Hello. I am an IT contractor working through a Limited Company. I got ILR 4 months ago. Can I claim paternity pay when I go on paternity leave in August. My accountant seems to think I amnot entitled to it as it is classed as public funds. Is this correct. Can't find anything on BIA website indicati...

I did not find the response dearly beloved. I follow comments made by MigrationWatch fairly regularly and they are actually quite straightforward about their policies. They mainly want illegal migrants encouraged to leave or removed, hefty fines for employers of illegal migrants, limits on legal mig...

If your win is more than £500 you need proof of ID. If you don't have this you need to get someone you trust who is legally resident to claim the money. For wins less than £500 which you can claim the money with your ticket only and no proof of ID is required.

My apologies Christophe. I appreciate all the advice. Will draft another letter tonight to the airline management stating that I intend to seek legal advice and I will include a paragraph relating to the EU regulation on denied boarding. I will update the board on the outcome of my case. Thank you e...

thsths. Thank you. I just did a Google search and I have had a look at the regulation you advised on. I am very interested in pursuing this option but the wording seems to relate to boarding denied on the basis of overbooking or flight delays. Will the regulation cover my particular case. I am just ...

My thanks to everyone who has posted a reply. Christophe thanks for your post. Will go with what you have advised. I will not accept their "goodwill" gesture and hope a new letter stating that I intend to seek legal advice elicits a reasonable response from their management. I reckon as ot...

Thank you both for your replies. I wrote to the management of the airline immeditely after this incident and received a curt reply stating that their airport staff are within their rights to refuse to board a passenger if they have reason to suspect the passenger does not hold valid travel documenta...

Do I have a legal case?

I was stopped from boarding a flight to Switzerland from London by airline personnel who insisted that I required a Swiss visa. I am Nigerian and my wife is English. We were on our way to France for a friend's wedding. I have a HSMP visa valid till 2010 and a valid Schengen visa issued by the French...

Speeding Fine and ILR

Good morning all. Will a speeding fine in 2008 ( I acknowledged guilt and paid the fine without attending court ) affect my ILR application. in 2009? Do I have to disclose this fine as a civil offence on my application form? Thanks in advance for any replies.

I may be wrong but I suspect Liam Byrne and his cohorts know they are unlikely to win an appeal against this ruling. We will have to wait and see the full judgement and the Government's response before there is clarity on the possibility of applying for ILR after 4 years. I am fairly certain that th...

Re:ID Cards

Not usually paranoid but I think I agree with Thirdwave on this one. While there are valid reasons for introducing ID cards, I think it's being rolled out on non-EU nationals as we are literally your classic "captive market". We can moan and groan as much as we want but the UK government i...
