PIO card, surrender certificate

I have been told that I have to surrender my passport before applying for a PIO card. Does anyone have recent experience of the PIO application process following this new rule? - Do we have to surrender our latest, and possibly, valid passport? Or all passports? Is it £90 per passport being surrend...

Indian PIO card for minor

Hello, I am planning to apply for a PIO card for my three month-old daughter who is an American citizen (through her father) and a UK resident. She is eligible for a PIO card through me (her mother) as I am an Indian citizen and through her maternal grandparents who are also Indian citizens. I find ...

Thanks - that seems utterly idiotic and sadly, typical of the home office. But I am a bit confused since on this board, I was also told however that it would be possible to put my husband as my dependent on my ILR application - so, if the clock begins again when you switch - it must somehow not appl...

ILR if switched status from WP to dependent to WP

Hello, I have a question about whether ILR is affected if one switches status? My husband was on a workpermit for 4 years and a couple of months, then, switched to being my dependent and will shortly be switching back to a work permit. He will have been in the UK continuously for 5 years at the end ...

Thank you John.

Yes, I have been to their website many times but frankly, I cannot find any concrete information on my situation.

So, just to clarify - the due date is October 19. My 5 year work permit expires Dec 28, so I will be eligible to apply for ILR on November 28 - about five weeks after the baby's birth. Assuming that it takes at least a 3 -4 weeks to get things organized to get the baby an American passport (Dad is A...

At the very least, it would make sense for IND to have some timeframe in mind for when the status of a newborn needs to be brought in line with that of its parents. What if you give birth a month before you apply for ILR? Seems utterly ridiculous and superfluous then to have to send in an FLRO appli...

According to the IND, the baby would need to have an immigration status assigned to it. It would also need to be declared by dependent (via the FLRO) before it could be on my ILR application. Yes, the plan is to register he/she as a British citizen but I will be travelling before all that comes thro...

Hi John, Thanks for the encouraging response - one baby! I don't think I am entitled to maternity allowance and child benefits from DSS since my work permit clearly indicates no access to public funds. The baby will be born 2.5 months before I come up for ILR and before my work permit expires. So, I...

ILR and maternity leave

Hello,

I will be eligible for ILR after a 5 year work permit at the end of the year. I am due to go on maternity leave about 2.5 months before I apply for ILR. Would maternity leave affect the ILR application? I wouldn't be getting 100% pay but close to for the first 8 weeks or so.

Thanks.

Maximum absences over 5 years for ILR??

Hello, I will be eligible for ILR at the end of the year after a 5 year work permit. I am struggling to find any clear cut information about the maximum period allowed out of the UK over the 5 year timeframe leading up to ILR. I am aware that one cannot be out of the country for more than 90 days in...

Hello, Does anyone have any experience with bringing a newborn's status in line with your work permit through an FLRO application? The newborn will need a passport before the FLRO and this could take a bit of time. Is there a minimum period of time by when this needs to be done. Also, will the newbo...

Hi -

Thanks for the note about timelimit for dependents before ILR. Did you have to pay double the application fee if you had your wife on the same application?

Hello,

Thanks for the information. Yes, I am aware that babies born in the UK to parents who settle subsequent to their birth are eligible for registration as UK citizens.

ILR for dependent spouse who is in the UKand baby born in UK

Hello, I will be eligible for ILR at the end of 2007. My 5 year work permit expires on December 28, so, I should be ready to apply on Dec 1. My husband who was on a 5 year work permit himself (expires Oct 2007) recently switched to my work permit as a dependent (about a month ago) after having chang...
