Re: Is a marriage certificate required if applying for FBR?

I have wondered about this myself. But I ended up sending my marriage certificate anyway. It only cost $10, so I didn’t think it was worth testing the theory it might not be needed. You can always try asking them via their website.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Did you end up registering with the Adoption Authority in Ireland? I'm doing the same as we speak... You should probably post a new question to the forum. You are responding to a comment that was made over six months ago, by someone who has not posted anything since then. They may not be participat...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

... if the two marriages of my mother (windowed) play any factor as her mother was only married once. Its anyone’s guess!! My guess is it will not be a factor. Your documents provide a complete picture of your family from your grandmother's birth to you. While immigration, citizenship, and national...

Re: FBR Entry Number?

It should be the number in box 1 - not the certificate number. If it is a recent version of the FBR certificate, that number is also repeated at the bottom with the caption "Certified Copy of Entry Number xxxxxxx in the Foreign Births Register".

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

My mother and I were both born in Worcester Massachusetts. My grandparents and parents were also married there. The birth certificates I obtained from the city included Mother's maiden name, place of birth (city or country), and current residence (city) Father's name and place of birth I ordered the...

Re: Parent Never Filed FBR?!?

After all I just said, please see this post . Someone whose screen name is "Immigration Lawyer" said a few years ago that s/he knew of many people who NOT successful, and not one who was successful. I have no idea if that person truly is a lawyer or is/was qualified to make the statement. ...

Technically, there is this option : "If you are of Irish associations, the Minister for Justice and Equality has absolute discretion to waive the conditions for naturalisation. Irish associations means being related by blood, affinity or adoption to an Irish citizen". That would, I assume,...

Re: Irish spouse visa vs British spouse visa

You probably want to discuss this with a solicitor. If you move to Ireland before Brexit is completed, you probably can invoke residence rights for a non-EEA spouse of an EU citizen. But after that? It seems that UK citizens residing in an EU country before Brexit will have "settled" statu...

Re: Parent Never Filed FBR?!?

I'd suggest you start here . Unless you have €1 million to invest in Ireland, I think you would either need to be married to, or in a civil partnership with an Irish national, or you would need to have a work permit. Either of those would allow you to live in Ireland, and accumulate time against the...

Re: Parent Never Filed FBR?!?

Sorry to say, but that is correct. It’s hard to imagine that he would have gone to the trouble to register his birth in Ireland and not told you. It is not a simple matter of filling out a form. It requires that you to assemble and submit birth, marriage, and death records of your grandparent, paren...

Foreign Birth Registration - purpose of marriage certificate?

I recently obtained entry in the Foreign Birth Registry. Having done so, some of my first cousins have become interested. Their cases raise some questions about the marriage certificate requirement. Is it really required in all situations? Here's some examples: (1) I am a married man. My name did no...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Congratulations Tom! As I mentioned on a previous post and I think to back up what michael123 mentioned, it does seem that after the reduction in processing time over the summer, the process is now taking up to the 6 month quoted time on the DFA website. Thank you! Maybe they are diverting resource...

I sent a message via the website inquiry form asking about my application status, no reply. Its been a week, has this happened to anyone else? Re: Foreign Birth Application problem

No doubt the embassy would be the best source of information. But others here have said that DFA does seem to give some latitude when it comes to dates. My grandparents marriage certificate did not have birth dates. It did have their ages, but neither was correct. What probably made up for that disc...

I would like to hear of anyone's experience in submitting proof of address documents. I need 3 but I don't have any utility bills.
In addition to a utility bill, I submitted my auto lease bill and a cable TV bill. My FBR application was successful, so obviously those are OK.
