Re: FBR docs required / Immig Agents

Does anyone know if you have to give up your UK passport at any stage in the process or can you have dual citizenship? Dual citizenship is allowed by the United Kingdom . Ireland also allows dual citizenship, and there is reference on this page to Irish/UK dual citizens. So you can have both passpo...

Re: Sibling applying for FBR

Just hoping that it might make things easier... any advice appreciated! I've seen previous posts from people who applied with siblings at the same time - but not separately. There is no published set of requirements for siblings of people who are already in the FBR. So I think you have to think abo...

Re: Options for getting united with EU citizen in ireland(Online_Love)

Unless you will be studying or have an employment permit in Ireland, you would probably only qualify for a short stay (90 day) visa. You don't qualify for a residence permit based on marriage, civil partnership, or de facto relationship. See Immigration Permissions and De Facto Relationships with an...

...was approved on 20 November. I was advised that due to a backlog, it may still be a few weeks before I receive my certificate. Congratulations! FWIW, the date on my FBR is 26 July, the cover letter was dated 9 August, and I received it by post on 16 August. Since your documents were submitted to...

Re: BREXIT UK Passport Holder and non EU Wife

Don't take my word for it. But a the EU and UK published a report in which they agreed in principle to some matters relating to UK citizens living in EU countries and vice versa. Citizen's rights 6. The overall objective of the Withdrawal Agreement with respect to citizens' rights is to provide reci...

27th September - Dublin emailed requesting a notarised copy of passport, shortly followed up with another email saying they had my notarised copy after all and application is complete and submitted for final approval. It should take 6 – 8 weeks from now before you receive everything back. Not sure ...

Re: Foreign Birth Register - supporting Docs

Those are the stated requirements . BrexitEscapee wrote on July 14 2018 about his/her grandparent having no civil birth record. In that case, a church record existed, and s/he used that to first get the birth registered the in the civil record system, as church records are not accepted for FBR. But ...

Re: Irish mother but adopted at birth.

Take a look at this post . This person was hoping to get citizenship through her mother, who was born and adopted in Britain to an Irish mother. She was able to get her mother registered by applying for an inter-country adoption entry to be added to the register. In the OP's (original poster) case, ...

Re: Registering a Foreign Birth (Grandfather on Fathers Side - Documentation Query)

I don't expect anyone here to know the precise answer, though I'm sure others have had similar questions. I completed FBR via my mother's father and wondered why my marriage certificate was needed. I have two brothers, one divorced, and the other never married. While neither is pursuing FBR, assumin...

Re: Apply for Irish passport

She can apply for an Irish passport if she is an Irish citizen. If she or her one of her parents was born on the island of Ireland, including Northern Ireland, she is a most likely an Irish citizen. In those cases, she can apply for a passport. If one of her grandparents was born in Ireland, she can...

Re: FBR 2 part question about notary and witness

Ok so I think this is my last few questions. Thank you all who have helped so far! 1) The notary just has to notarized a copy of my and my father’s passport photo page correct? So I’ll just make a copy of them in front of notary, then they will notarized them? 2) My witness is a friend who is also ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration- how to include photos

I saw something about how the photos need to be a different size than the standard US American passport size, is that true as well? Not to hijack your thread! Also, does the place taking the photo have to sign the back as well? Or just the witness? I submitted Irish-sized passport photos, which I h...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration- how to include photos

Good question. I forgot about this. But it did puzzle me. I sent a message to DFA asking about it, but got no response. It seemed that since there is a certification on the backs of the photos, it was pointless to completely attach them to the boxes . Otherwise they would have to pry them off to see...

Re: FBR applicants: What further info did the DFA request of you?

My birth certificate doesn’t have the current address of my parents.... My passport also doesn’t have my current address. I sent them a copy of my passport, which doesn't have and address. That was not a problem. My birth certificate and my mothers did not have addresses of parents - only their cit...

Re: FBR applicants: What further info did the DFA request of you?

Yours is a question I had while I awaited my FBR approval. I've watched this discussion since I applied in April, and occasionally someone would post that they were asked for additional documents, but they usually never explained why. Recently, jpauls had an issue because he did not originally send ...
