Hi, All British citizens have the right of abode in the United Kingdom. Against this background, I would guess that every one with the right of abode is therefoore a British Citizen. As your friend has the right of abode, she may already be a British Citizen. She should then just apply for a Passport.

RAJ2007, But in treal20's case, he cannot yet register his child as a British Citizen, as the child was born (in UK) before treal20 had acquired ILR. Unless of course treal20 is at this stage just asking for genaral information on referees, I think he/she cannot register the child as a BC, until aft...

Re: Referees for a minor child for registration as UK citize

Both parents were granted ILRs a month after the child was born. Does the 2 -month old child require 2 referees to be registered as Brirtish citizen under section 1.3 of Birtish Nationalily Act? I thought you can only register a Child as a British Citizen if the parent has already acquired British ...

When you do get British Citizenship, then you will be able to register your child as a British Citizen. I think you need to do it within a set time frame, I would advise you do it ASAP, as soon as you become a BC.

To satisfy the residence requirement you should not have been absent for more than 90 days in the last 12 months. And the total number of days absence for the whole 5 year period should not exceed 450 . If you are married or in civil partnership to a British citizen the total number of days absence ...

You do not need to have any savings for naturalsiation. Just pay your application fees (£655), make sure you have not been in breach of immigration rules, be of good character and meet the residence requirments.

For naturalisation cases, you become a British citizen as soon as you have attended the citizenship ceremony (if applicable). A passport is just a travel document and not all British Citizens have British passports.

I think in the last 5 years your absences should not have exceeded 450 days. Against this background, I do not see why your application for ILR should not be successful.
