In response to magsi23's questions: Iboro is bang on, - mine was an HSMP-JR situation, which is why the letter was backdated. - it does seem the payment sequence varies at Croydon vs the other PEOs. It's precisely because of this that I canceled my earlier appointment at Croydon and switched to Birm...

ILR success at Birmingham - WP + HSMP (JR)

Very happy to report that my ILR came thru today. Am writing this from the library close to the PEO, so will be brief. My background: - WP in Jan 2005 - switched to HSMP in March 2006 - then renewed HSMP in Feb 2008. I had taken along lots of documents, but the caseworker (a very polite and nice lad...

Documents :
3 P60's
Salary slips
Passport
HSMP approval letter ( pre-April 2006)

They need P60 's for the time u were on HSMP.
How many months' salary slips did you submit?
Did you not include bank statements in the list of documents?

Thanks in advance.

Technically now you are a British citizen. So you should not travel on your Indian passport. In fact, that passport is null and void now. You could, however, travel on it illegally if you are prepared to take the risk. I don't believe UKBA informs Indian consulate here about your citizenship switch,...

Legislative changes to Canadian citizenship rules

Quite a few changes that could have a significant impact on large numbers of expat Canadians.

Goodfun, congratulations on getting the ILR and thanks for posting useful information. I do have a couple of questions: 1. it seems you didn't provide them any P60s at all? Were they ok with that? 2. you mentioned: At the end the caseworker wanted to check the number of days out of the country for w...

I must admit I don't quite understand what the issue here is. If this person is a Nigerian citizen and has a valid Nigerian passport, then if he travels back to his home country what issue is there if he had overstayed in the UK? At point of departure, they only check if you have a valid document to...

Rozen, where did the original poster say he has an expired passport??

I don't think there's an issue here. If he has an active passport from his home country, he can go back without any hassles.

Re: Please HELP

I have got my My Initial HSMP and Entry Clearance approved on 22nd July 2005 and I arrived in the UK 28 Aug 05. and I am on 1 + 4 group, so still I had about 12 months to go on the visa, Now when can I apply for ILR, Based on the info you have provided, your case seems straightforward. Your clock s...

what visa did you have stamped, entry clearance or FLR ? but frankly this looks like you reset the clock when you left the country Just checked my passport - both the stamps (the original WP and the later HSMP) say Entry Clearance. Are you saying this could reset the clock? Bummer. This would mean ...

My question is not about the HSMP period. I am aware one doesn't need to be employed all the time under HSMP. However, my worry is about whether the clock would be reset from the start of my HSMP period (March '06), rather than continue from WP period (Jan '05). This is because of the interpretation...

Thank you for the clarification.
One question: you mentioned the photo should be less than 1 month. Does this mean we need to get the photographer to provide proof (e.g. a seal on the back of the photo with date) of date taken?
I don't remember reading this point on the SET form/guide.

I am thinking of re-booking an appointment at a non-Croydon centre. This is because of the fact that my case may be a bit tricky... I was on a 4-year WP from Jan 2005, then switched to HSMP from March 2006. I was away from the UK mid-Feb to end-April 2006, which is when I applied for HSMP from home ...

Payment for ILR - Croydon vs other PEO centres

It seems payment has to be made right at the beginning at PEO Croydon, then you have the appointment with the case worker. While in other centres, first they assess your case, then you make your payment. See for example: http://www.workingintheuk.org.uk/2009/05/indefinite-leave-to-remain-success_11....

My PEO appointment is on a Monday. I wonder if they will be sending this text message to me the previous Friday itself?

What happens if for some reason you don't have this number when you get to the PEO office?

This question has been raised quite a few times here. It's 45 days on average per year. During the days when you needed to complete 4 years to be eligible for an ILR, that worked out to a max of 180 days over 4 years. Now that the requirement has been increased to 5 years (with the exception of the ...
