I called them this morning, and was told my application reached them as of yesterday, i.e. 8th March. They suggested I call them again in a week's time if I have not recd any further updates as of then. That puts your application at par with mine. Yes, we two seem to be running neck-and-neck... passport interview question

Question for those of you who have been thru the passport interview: Is this just an interview where they ask you questions to verify your identity? Or is there something more? I ask this because I read elsewhere on this forum that they take your fingerprint at the interview. Is this correct? The IP...

I very much doubt that because in ten years time your next passport will be considered as renewal and its NOT necessary to send in your naturalisation certificate. Agreed. I still feel it's a good idea to keep the certificate in its 'valid' state, if that means not laminating it. This certificate i...

Hey, I finally figured out how to quote properly:) Thanks global gypsy! You're welcome. I have suggested to Admins to make this a default setting for all users. By the way, is there any other use for the certificate once we have our passports? The naturalisation certificate is a very important docu...

Default settings for users

Admins, I noticed that several users' posts don't show the quotes (of others' posts) correctly, i.e. they are displayed as, e.g. [quote:="abcd"]Blah blah[/quote] - rather than as proper quotes: Blah blah I noticed this functionality is controlled by the "Always allow BBCode:" opt...

By the way, I noticed that several posts here don't show the quotes correctly. E.g. Spartac
To fix this, go to your Profile, then Choose 'Yes' for the option 'Always allow BBCode' - and Save

Hope that helps.

You can have the citizenship certificate laminated after you have received the passport. NO! If you take a look a the info brochures they provided you at the ceremony, one of them states clearly that you should not laminate the naturalisation certicate. If you do, it ceases to be a valid document! ...

Spartac and Mallik - thanks for your tips.

Spartac, I wasn't aware there's further checks at passport application stage! I thought they just verify the reference. Perhaps they do detailed checks on a random basis? Not sure.
Best of luck with the interview.

Just completed my citizenship ceremony today. Glad it's over! Next step is to apply for British passport. I do have a question in this regard: The naturalsation certificate is an A4-size document. It seems you are pretty close to the limit. I would suggest you don't make trips outside the country over the next year, if you don't want hassles at the time of naturalisation application.

That's because now it takes 5 years to get ILR, then another 1 year for citizenship.
You stated you fall under HSMP JR category - you save 1 year because of that.

Malaysia does not allow dual citizenship, which means your Malaysian passport is not a valid travel document.
You could get into trouble for what you are planning to do.

It seems the time it takes to process an application is dependent on a few factors: - applicants' nationality - category of application, e.g. thru marriage vs skilled worker - single or family application - applicant's location, e.g. Wales vs Scotland - details in the application itself, e.g. convic...

When I went for my NCS appointment, they also asked me if I would be in the UK for the next 5 days. I suspect this is to cover the possibility that it could take 5 days max for the application to reach UKBA.
