Also you need a sponsor letter stating your support for her application, and some blurb about the history of your relationship and how you plan to spend your married life together in the UK. On the finances side, people have recommended a summary of income and committed expenses showing a nice healt...

If you spend your time working in Australia, and living in Australia you would be a tax resident and liable to Australian tax. http://www.ato.gov.au/individuals/content.asp?doc=/content/64131.htm&pc=001/002/012/014/001&mnu=4201&mfp=001&st=&cy=1 The way double taxation generally w...

You need to prove that you can support yourselves without recourse to public funds. Therefore you must assume that if you have no savings, job or any other income that you would fail on this test. It is possible I believe to have your parents offer to support you until you get a job. In this case I ...

You don't need an appointment for the Visa section in Canberra, you just turn up and take a ticket. My wife went last Thursday and there was no one else there, the guy on the door handed her a ticket on the way in and she went straight to a desk. I suggest she get there early as this increases the c...

No Chance. Even if this was a question within the remit of our Government it would and should have nothing whatsoever to do with Immigration. The marriage age is within Parliament's jurisdiction - who else should decide fundamental questions like this? What possible justification could they have? V...

I hope you are right John, this smacks of punishing the many legitimate married or engaged couples to deal with a small number of forced marriages, Surely this is better dealt with using interviews and discretion. A one on one interview should be able to identify those who are being forced into a m...

I hope they are referring to sponsors here, otherwise that is really dodgy.

My question is what will happen to genuine cases like mine? Against the background of the Home Office losing an important case last week ... it related to Certificates of Approval to Marry ..... and amazingly still no reaction to that on the BIA website ..... I am going to stick my neck out here .....

I would think on the question of your sponsors employment, that if you write a letter explaining that this is the same role, initially on a temporary basis which has been made permanent after X months, and get a letter from the employer saying the same thing, I don't see why that should be a problem...

At the end of the day the BIA WANT people to leave the UK and apply from back home. Any idea why the BIA should want people to leave just in order to come back? I really don't see the point of this. If you are the kind of person who is going to abscond and not leave when told to then you probably w...

If you had applied online and spent the $99 each way to fly to Canberra and hand in your documents in person you would probably have got it the same day. My Wife did a couple of years ago. After you get married with a fiance visa you then get the 2 year spouse visa. Than after the 2 years you pay another £750 for ILR.

It would be cheaper and easier to get married before you come.

Given the basis for the application is that you are either present and settled or being admitted for settlement at the time of application, this implies to me that they accept that in many circumstances you will be in the UK and your partner applying to join you. Is there anything questionable about...

I would think you are better off putting more information than less, and hence my wife put yes. If they are referring to a previous marriage and you include your current one they can ignore it. If they are asking you about all marriages including your current one and you don't put it in then they ar...

My wife applied for FLR as an overstayer and was rejected, albeit on a spouse visa - her WP had expired. My understanding is that it is very rare to succeed in an FLR application once you are an overstayer. We wasted the £395 and my wfe has had to go home anyway to resolve it. On the plus side at l...

Hi Jeff, she did indeed get her passport back and all the other paperwork they held. I will ensure Lisa has all the documentation with her in the hope that she can avoid the IS151A at Heathrow. I understand it the situation and don't hold out a great deal of hope, however as my MP is a qualified Lawyer, part-time district judge, former shadow home affairs minister and founder of the IAS I am inclined to give him a chance to have a go.
