Re: Overseas Citizeship Ceremony for spouse of citizen

The Gov.UK webpage on citizenship ceremonies states quite flatly that "If you applied for citizenship in the UK, you cannot have your ceremony abroad.". I suspect that citizenship ceremonies abroad are reserved for spouses of British citizens in Crown Service abroad and people who applied...

Overseas Citizeship Ceremony for spouse of citizen

Hi there We have recently applied for Citizenship for my wife (who is Australian) as my spouse. I understand she does not have to intend to live permanently in the UK and we correctly stated our intention to live in Australia on her application. We are now planning to move to Australia in September,...

Wife ILR application - what is Complex for PEO application

Hi All A quick one I hope - after a brief overstay in 2007 my Wife went back to Australia and got her 2 year Spouse Visa. Now we are approaching the deadline for ILR and I am keen to apply in person in Croydon. I am concerned though at the statement concerning complex applications not being dealt wi...

I was just thinking the same thing. The current one on the BIA site is the Set(M) Version 11/2008 - from 27th November 2008. Are we expecting a new one in April?

Re: Australian government are liars

I have been driving for 4 months already and drivers are a lot more respectful than those in the UK. You have to admit though Jeff... Perth commuters can't get their heads around the concept of merging traffic. Coming onto the Kwinana Freeway heading South from the City used to do my head in. Then ...

I didn't write that very well.. My wife overstayed by about 6 weeks, but was not served any kind of order, just refused her FLR and told to leave asap. She was then granted a 2 year spouse visa from Australia, with the overstay taken into consideration. ILR will be 2 years after her original entry c...

Hi All

I am reading that this only applied to Entry Clearance applications, so am I right in assuming this will not affect ILR spouse applications from the UK?

Thanks

Phil, my wife applied for a spouse visa about a week after her work permit visa had expired and was refused. Whatever you do do not put yourself in the position where your partner is here without a visa, you will regret it. I know it sounds expensive but you are much better off leaving and staying l...

I think the idea of promoting understanding of behaviour which is not acceptable under UK societal norms entirely reasonable. When I travel I go out of my way to ensure I have at least a basic understanding of the differences between my culture and the one I am visiting. Then I can decide what you w...

I was interested to see that BHC Canberra rejected 4 out of over 3,500 settlement applications in the reported time period. I guess this really highlights the importance of credibility in applications. I.e. if no one in the Visa section could believe you would want to come to the UK from Australia f...

As indicated in many posts on here (do some searching and reading) there is no good outcome from overstaying. All you can do is get out of the country asap. Others have advised that in order to avoid exit controls and hence the overstay stamp in her passport, your friend might want to fly out of an ...

On what Visa is she in the UK? If she is here on a spouse visa and her husband/sponsor is unaware then that is clearly not a subsisting relationship. I would recommend some professional advice ASAP as that must mean she is in breach of her Visa conditions.

The advantage of handing in the application in person is that if they want to know anything else then you can often sort it out on the spot, and it also gives them a chance to see if you seem genuine or not. Assuming you do, that might save you a formal interview. Everyone seems to recommend it, so ...
