Supporting docs not returned

My wife applied for her first British Passport. She received the new passport two weeks ago, but hasn’t received the supporting docs (naturalisation certificate and other passport).

What should we do?

Re: Confirmation of identity for passport application requested a second time

I am pretty sure the person who did it the first time meets the requirements - he is a company director and a British citizen.

Confirmation of identity for passport application requested a second time

My wife applied for a passport a few weeks ago. As per the process, they asked for someone to confirm her identity, and he did so a couple of weeks ago. We did that and they confirmed it was done, and asked for docs to be sent, which they then confirmed they received. Now, a few weeks later we recei...

Proving right to work with a naturalisation certificate

Is a naturalisation certificate enough to prove right to work in U.K.? My wife’s employers are asking for additional documentation. She doesn’t have a passport yet and doesn’t have a BRP anymore of course.

Re: First british passport application - submission of existing passport

I just spoke to the passport office on the same the topic and the person I spoke to said the applicant can ask for their existing passport to be returned early (ie not have to wait until the U.K. passport application is processed). He also said the applicant can use their naturalisation certificate ...

Re: Passport name differences

Re: New policy regarding passport names for dual nationals.

Hi, Another frustrated customer of HMPO here, just wanted to share our story. My wife got her first British passport 10 years ago. She applied for a renewal in March, and still has no passport 5 months on. She is also a national of Belarus, and her name in her Belarusian passport is spelt different...

Place of birth on naturalisation certificate

My wife received a letter saying her citizenship has been approved. We were surprised at the spelling used for the place of birth on the letter. It uses the Belarusian spelling of the place instead of the Russian one. (Note that Russian is an official language of Belarus and her passport includes bo...

Proof of sufficient time in the UK

My wife is applying for naturalisation. She has travelled out of the country several times for short trips over the last three years (total time well below the 90 and 270 day limits). I understand that normally she is able to prove that she has been in the UK enough with her passports. However, on s...

Travel during naturalisation process

I am looking to understand what the restrictions on travel during the naturalisation process are (for my wife who is in the process of applying). The first step is applying for naturalisation. This takes up to 6 months as far as I understand. After that, she needs to go to a citizenship ceremony. Wi...

Re: Changing jobs while ILR application is in progress.

Thank you for your response. Their position is that they would be at risk of getting fined if they offered a full time contract. A full time contract would be completely standard for this time of job. Do you know what the standard practice is at large organisations? Presumably they would just give t...

Changing jobs while ILR application is in progress.

My partner is applying for a job with a large UK company. She submitted her ILR application 3 months ago as the spouse of a UK citizen, and hadn’t heard back since (it could be another three months...). Because of this, her prospective employer doesn’t want to issue her with a full time contract. In...

Documents to bring for UKVCAS appointment

Hi My wife has an appointment for ILR (as a spouse of British citizen) tomorrow, and it is not clear to me which docs she needs to bring. They said that passports and the doc I signed saying she is my spouse are mandatory, but does she also need to bring printouts of other docs, like financial infor...

The European Comission has published a press release on this subject. https://ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/detail/en/qanda_20_149 It says “Multiple-entry visas with long validity (from 1 to 5 years) are now easier to obtain, saving frequent travellers time and money, as they will have to appl...

Thank you. I understand that they need to come from different companies/institutions. How many different institutions are needed? At the moment we have (for my spouse) council tax, 2 banks, HMRC and a credit card issuer (and a similar number of institutions for me). Is that enough, or do I need to g...

My understanding is that you will now need to use the paper form. Wait for others to comment.
I can confirm that this is correct (clicked through to the end and were forced to pay in order to continue).

" Intended date of departure from the Schengen area" for multiple entry visa

We would like to apply for a multiple entry short stay visa for my wife that will be valid for several years (the last visa was valid for 2 years so I would guess we will get at least that). What should we put in the " Intended date of departure from the Schengen area "? The instructions o...
