What does it mean when a red US immigration stamp has the following:

'Admitted' has been crossed out and above it it is written 'Paroled' and instead of WB/WT it says 'CP'...

avjones, do you pluck your answers from the air?! A child born before 1983 is automatically British no matter what the parents' status is (unless diplomatic staff). Before you answer I suggest you look up the law.

Hard to tell but I do get file of papers from the HO going back some 15 years!! As suggested above, apply for the entry clearance to be on the safe side so that you don't encounter the same unpleasant experience as before. If you have prior entry clearance it is much harder for the IO to refuse you ...

I had a client in the past from Jamaica and they wanted to deport him (which is far worse than admin removal). We persuaded the HO to deport him to Belgium as all his close relatives were living there. Request was put in to the Belgium authorities and they accepted him. The UKIS agreed. So you never...

This is because since October 2000, the visa itself serves as leave to enter, hence the time runs from when the visa was issued and not when the person entered the UK... Even if the person was issued with a 2 or 5 years visitor's visa, the maximum time allowed are 180 days at any given visit.

WHM and switching to student status

Hi All

Is a person on WHM allowed to switch into student status and does this have to be at 'degree level'?

Thanks in advance

If a person was served with an immigration decision (e.g. further leave to remain is refused) then in-country appeal rights could follow. If the person exhausts his/ her appeal and still remains in the UK, s/he would then become an overstayer.

Why were refused entry in 1998? Even if you have a new ppt they could still trace you on the system, although I think it's highly unlikely that they would. Every leave to enter must be assessed on the current information the passanger supplies to the IO but previous immigration history can be taken ...

Yes you could get married in the Church of England without the need of a 'Certificate of Approval' from the HO and your partner could then apply for an FLR (M), theoretically. However, as he is an overstayer I doubt the HO will grant him 2 years 'probationary' leave to remain unless there are except...

You shoul call the AIT on 0845 6000 877 and ask them whether or not the HO have asked for reconsideration. If not then you could write to the HO Appeals Implementation Unit, P O Box 502 Leeds, LS1 2ZE or email them: determinations.team@ind.homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk and ask them what the heck they're wai...

I'd write a complaint to the CIO (Chief Immigration Officer) or even better the HM Inspector about that IO. You should check her IO number on the stamp. As far as I know they cannot curtail your leave on that basis there and then, but I might be mistaken. In any event if they can that would be an im...

I wouldn't worry. Sometimes, these incidents happen. I'm sure the IO wanted to give you a free standing (just date) stamp. Whoever is going to process your ILR application will know that those conditions (no work/ recourse to public funds - Code 3,5N) is not applicable to you as you're on code 4 res...

Best is to obtain your file of papers from the HO, Subject Access Bureau for £10.00 and check the landing card sections. You must have filled in Landing Cards when you entered the UK on your way back from holidays so HO should have a copy on file. That you have departure stamps from those countries...

I think it depends on the country you intend to visit. i.e whetehr or not that EU country allows SA citizens visa exemption... You need to check with the relevant embassy in the UK before you go off on hol.

Does anybody know what the letters 'WT' and 'WB' mean in a US immigration stamp? Are there any other letters that are used and what do they mean?

I came across a Landing Card where for CAT at the bottom of it (IO fills this in) it stated R. The person in question is a student. She was coming back from holidays. I recently came across a 'weird' immigration stamp in a Canadian passport. This was an ink stamp and it stated that the holder has leave granted by ECO Ottawa and that the leave is going to expire on XX XX XX. IT also bore the landing card number at the top and Code (4) at the right hand side. In wh...
