Hi All

Just being curious 😁, does anyone has an idea of how our citizenship applications are processed by the caseworkers? What steps are followed ??

Thanks 😊

In my experience the short answer to your question on how the applications are processed is:-

Badly!

Re: Comprehensive Sickness Insurance As Part-Time student Vs Working Full Time

As I understand it, when you were working full time and paying NI contributions, it does not matter that you were studying part time. You were not a ‘self sufficient person’ who needed Sickness Insurance if employed and paying NI, paying tax etc. Being a part time student is equivalent to a hobby if...

Re: EEA (Self sufficiency) Criterion

There is, as far as I am aware, no stated absolute minimum criteria which are applied for income or accommodation, so as long as, I suppose, you do not claim benefits and are able to live then you are OK. A good bit of background and info is contained here https://www.freemovement.org.uk/wp-content/...

Re: Government agree EU Citizens...

A strange thing with the post above. In the title and in the second line I typed C a b i n e t in place of Government, when I preview it auto changes the word to Spam!?

Very odd, obviously a glitch somewhere.

Government agree EU Citizens...

One of the Headlines on the BBC Website this morning. “UK immigration: No preference for EU workers after Brexit, Government agrees” I just wonder what this will mean in practice? How long before we know what will happen definitely? Will they plan to improve the Home Office ability to process applic...

Re: First passport after naturalisation

On the 13/09/18 I posted my first application for a UK passport after naturalisation. As Ancestor says if the passports are cancelled they are not required. I enclosed only my current German passport, even though I have still in my possession passports going back to the 1960’s. My UK passport arrive...

Re: First passport after naturalisation

If you are thinking of making a passport application now, stop.

You need to give the Citizenship Certificate number, how can you do that until you have received the Certificate?

Re: How will brexit affect our plan?

How long have you been in Germany?

Have you checked out your possible entitlement to apply for German Citizenship?

Acquiring German citizenship now or Italian citizenship in the future would mean you’d continue to have freedom of movement.

Re: Permanent residence received in year 2000

Others here will know better than I, but if you have a letter confirming Permanent Residence with dates etc. I should have thought that was proof of being here legally, if you have fulfilled the ongoing requirements. Refusal of the application for Citizenship is costly though and even if the HO are ...

For children there are variations/differences, I was just looking at these and think you do need to check things out, but it...

Re: UK Born baby to German and New Zealand parents.

With regard to your wish to register your child for UK, German and NZ citizenship I think you have to check things out carefully. As a principle Germany does not allow dual citizenship. Anyone taking dual citizenship of another country will lose their German citizenship, except in specific circumsta...

Re: Jacob Rees-Mogg: EU nationals will have no right to stay

If by no ‘legal basis to treat them differently’ than any other group, he means that the current legal status for EU citizens ceases with no replacement rights to be here being granted en masse; then what would be the position of the 3+ million EU citizens currently here? Would it not mean for the v...

Re: Form AN Name Confusion - Question 1.8

Logic would dictate that ‘Paul’ as a nickname is not of interest to the Home Office. In the UK so many names are shortened and used by friends instead of the given name, yet on official documents people would always use their proper full name. So long as you have. NOT used your nickname on official ...

As far as I know the only grounds on which she could get exemption and she would not have to take the tests is age, e.g. 65yrs+ or mental incapacity.

Re: BC Application EEA member - ID card address???

If your parents address is shown on your ID card is this because you did not abmelden, deregister, in Germany? Normally, I thought, if you inform the German authorities of a permanent move, in this case to the UK, you will have to get an updated ID card which would come via the German Embassy, and s...
