Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Oh no! So the certificates DO expire? Does that mean we're back to the 21 day window to book the ceremony? (How can that be if it's taking a month for the invitation to reach some people?) Would they actually send it back if it expired, and what would one do about it if that happened? Aghh. I think...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Yikes. So I called Brent council today after them telling me they weren't accepting new bookings during lockdown (not even for December) after my ceremony was cancelled on account of that. Turns out that probably wasn't true because they're booked up until January now but also turns out my certifica...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Well I phoned Brent council today to see what was happening since all they told people was "your ceremony is cancelled" and literally no other information. They aren't rescheduling any ceremonies until the lockdown is lifted. So just gotta wait until it's lifted and then phone again to mak...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Welp, Brent council cancelled my ceremony today with absolutely no instructions of what to do next. Literally just "your citizenship ceremony has been cancelled" and nothing else. Sooo like must I call again and book now or do I have to wait until lockdown eases?

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

And got my ceremony booked with Brent council! 11th November was the earliest. So all in all that's:

16th June approval.
23rd September - date on invitation letter (actual arrival 9th October)
11th November - Ceremony

OMG I'M ALMOST DONE YOU GUYS.

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Invitation letter received! Approval was middle of June and the date on the letter is 23rd September, which gives me like 3 working days of leeway to book the ceremony lol (it states 21 days from the date on the letter which seems a little tight to me all things considered). I'll phone Brent counci...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Hi, How did you get through to Brent?. The only form of contact is via phone and the line is closed for today due to training. I used the general online contact form on the website and selected Nationality Services as the topic. This lets you send an email to the nationality team, they take a good ...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Well I got a very useful reply from Brent council now, they confirmed they don't have my certificate yet and said that the HO has been very intermittent in sending certificates to them. They've tried to get more information from them regarding timelines, but haven't received any response either.

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Welp, super duper helpful email from Brent council :?

"Thank you for your email.

Please contact Home Office for assistance as we only deal with the citizenship ceremonies.

Regards,"

Like this does not even remotely address my query :D

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

I got approval in the middle of June, still no invitation letter from Brent council sadly. I'm going to try and contact them via the online form (I'm not big on phon...

OK I got the letter now :) So if you do it online then you don't need to post anything and it seems fairly efficient (surprising!).

Re: Form NQ online application - anything to do after?

I have recently applied myself, but a postal application. I'm a bit concerned as they've still not taken any money out and it's been more than the 10 working days! I need to get on with my Naturalisation application, so this is now holding it up. They are really slow, they had a warning up when I d...

Form NQ online application - anything to do after?

Hey folks! I just finished doing my online application for form NQ (proof of non-acquisition of British citizenship) so that I can keep my South African citizenship. After you pay the last step is "Download and print" your form, but then that's it? I don't have to post it anywhere or do an...

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to report back to say my wife's visa was APPROVED this morning! :D

A huge thank you to everyone who helped us out! Without the information on these boards and from you all I very much doubt we'd be celebrating like we are today :)

Re: "you must provide original and photocopy of all supporting documents"

Also when my wife asked the agent "what if I need my old passports to include with my supporting documentation?" the reply was "I don't know".

Very inspiring.

Re: "you must provide original and photocopy of all supporting documents"

Ok that's 2 votes for uncertified copies and 1 for originals ;) Guys my wife had her biometrics at VFS in Kuala Lumpur today and a few things stood out to me: 1. They took the first 3 pages of her application form including the first declaration. Why would they need to do this? Now I'm unsure if I l...

Re: "you must provide original and photocopy of all supporting documents"

Last minute question! Does the copy of sponsor's BRP/passport need to be certified at all? If so is post office certified copy acceptable or does it have to be a solicitor? Preferably send original passport & BRP because usually In case of British passport the copy may work. You know what, for ...

Re: The final checklist! (spouse visa documents)

IHS payment is part of the online process correct. Form SU07 is NOT required for a spouse visa. SA ID book is irrelevant to a UK visa application. It is only applicable in SA for SA stuff. If you are in the UK, there is NO requirement to submit your original documents anyway. Copies will be fine. Y...

"you must provide original and photocopy of all supporting documents"

Re: The final checklist! (spouse visa documents)
