And that is why I asked you!

As you know, my grandmother was born in Ireland. But my grandfather was born in Scotland, to my understanding I would need to persue the UK’s version of the FBR if that even exists.

Tom, any idea how many citizenships someone can obtain? Not specific by method, but can how many is legal by US law? I know dual ( 2 ) is allowed but Tri (3) ?

Thats might be a problem for me also. Here in Massachusetts that is not listed on any certificates!

If you are able to get any further info, let me know and Ill try to get info here, is rather be prepared should they want the same from me.

The curiosity got the best of me. I got up early and callled the FBR in Dublin. I had a nice chat with a lady who answered the phone. I gave her my information including my application number, she put me on hold for a few moments and came back with the news.. my application has not even been opened ...

When did you apply?

My package was recieved in Dublin on 8/20/18 according to FedEx tracking and I received the email confirming reciept on 8/21/18.

I think that Im 8 weeks until I get the “successful application” email.

That’s excellent!
How long between recieving the email and receiving the documents? What courier did they use, Fedex, UPS, Post office? Did the delivery require a signature?

If I am not mistaken and I don’t think i am, your mother was born in Ireland, then you are an itish citizen. All you need to do is apply for an Irish passport. You may need supporting documentation.

One needs to be an Irish citizen to obtain an Irish passport. What is your citizenship status? Are you married to your partner?
