Re: FBR/ Irish citizenship for MINOR help please

There isnt a ceremony for FBR applicants. This is all done by mail. There is no need to visit ireland for any part of this process. Current and valid ID is required for your mother, you and your daughter. They must be witnessed by one of the people listed on the application, Clergy, notary... ect. A...

Re: FBR/ Irish citizenship for MINOR help please

More.... If your daughter DOES NOT have children and is granted citizenship, her children, when born, will be eligible for FBR.. the parent, must be a citizen BEFORE the child is born.. except in your situation, you have been a citizen since birth as your mother was BORN in Ireland (north or republi...

Re: FBR/ Irish citizenship for MINOR help please

Easy ! You mom is a citizen by birth. You are a citizen by decent, you just need to get the documents. YOU skip the FBR and go directly to the passport application stage. Your daughter, file for citizenship by decent by means of the FBR. Complete online application, pay fee, print application and ha...

Re: FBR/ Irish citizenship for MINOR help please

You are getting things confused. 1. Was your mother born in any part of Ireland? 2. Are you an Irish citizen? If your mother was born in Ireland, then you are a citizen and your daughter can register bia FBR. The witness part only appears after you complete the online application, pay and the you wi...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Thank you everyone! It still has not completely sunk in yet. I am very excited, just the thought of the connection and the link to my heritage is great. The only thing I wish I could change is that I wish I had been more educated in this years ago. I had known for many many years that I was eligible...

Hello all, I discovered this site and decided to register and post my own dates of application for FBR. I sent my application on 21 March from the New York City metro area. Re: Foreign Birth Registration

The process is the process. I do think that DFA should have built into their process a simple first step - in that when submissions are first received the original documents should be checked for sufficiency/responsiveness - and if so, the original docs then returned to the applicant. Then the subm...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Yes and I think if this really is the case then they need to take the 'applications take approximately 6 months to process' off the website, it only states on the website also that taking up to 12 months is for complex applications and I am sure that the majority of applications received are straig...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

The guy on the phone told me that the timeline is now a full 12 months from receipt to them 'processing' the applications. They've been rattling out this "Full 12 months" line for a while now. In practice, there seems to be no rhyme or reason, so don't get too dejected. I don't see how th...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Disappointing call today to the FBR department asking for an update to my application. It was received in London on 8 October 2018 and is still in the queue to be checked. Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Congratulations Brawn!

Ive decided that the comical aspect of this “6 month wait” and “88% of applications in 2018 where completed within 6 months” is almost worth the wait. How can they make the 88% claim about 2018? They are barely processing the first half of 2018.
