Average daily rate for with 5 yrs of exp guy in Java can expect around £350 a day. But no hard rules. In order to get your first contract it is better to take what ever rate you get and from next one on wards choose one with high daily rates. This is what many people do. It all depends on you. What you are saying is technically right. There is nothing called WP transfer. Need to file a new WP. But as you are already in UK and getting new WP should not be that problem because you are leaving one job (means create one job vacancy) and jumping into another. So it is not a potential job loss ...

It depends, if you are opting for permanent jobs then your new employer needs to sponsor work permit. If you prefer contract jobs then you can find a company which files your WP and then you will be on their payrolls and can go for contract work. Many people do this in UK. But you cannot quit your j...

what is is your current Visa status? and contract rate of your temp job?
What kind of temp job it is? I mean is it software or something else.

It would be easy to transfer work permit if you have contract in hand. But if they are asking £1000 as fee then you need to think about it.

this is not totally true. It really depends on 1st line or 2nd line support experience you got or development exp. It is really hard to comment with out looking at CV/profile.

I know two persons who came to UK last month and with in three weeks they signed up contracts.

Guys,

Opportunities for Testing are really good. If you have any testing certifications then it will make your profile more exotic. A typical Test Analyst with 5 yrs exp can expect around £300 a day.

It is highly impossible to get jobs while you are in India even if you got your HSMP and EC stamped. Most of the employers expect candidate to be in UK to consider application.

This sounds a bit risky but many people in recent times coming to UK and getting jobs fairly soon.
