I wasnt automatically entitled to it. I never said my grandfather was born in Ireland. I said my great grandfather was. My mom was automatically entitled to Irish citizenship, but because she never exercised that right before I was born, the chain was broken, hence the application for naturalisation.

I applied for naturalization after being in Ireland for only 2 years. Applied on the basis of association. Mother was FBR, but only after my birth. Great Grandfather was born in Ireland. Application was approved.

Did your mother gain citizenship via the FBR system before you were born? If so, you can apply to be an Irish Citizen by going down the FBR route as well, using her FBR certificate (amongst other documents) as evidence. If she gained her citizenship after you were born, I don't think that you can a...

I currently live outside Ireland. I recieved my naturalization based on Irish associations. Would I need to register. Re: Thanks

I know I'm not a citizen until it is granted, but I was wondering if they let you live there while the application is processed? I am American. I have not applied yet. I'm working with a solicitor over there to analyse my case to see if it is worth applying or not. Short answer......absolutely not,...

Re: if child is born in india for an irish couple can get ir

It absolutely does make a huge difference. If the parents were naturalised and werent born in Ireland then the child that will be born in India is not automatically Irish, hence they cannot just wals into the Irish Embassy and apply for passport. Firstly the child will have to be put on the Foreign...

Hello, thank you for the reply. Yes a few reasons. First of all, I completed my KOL test to obtain my NTL visa. But I realised that I moved house, somewhere a long the line I misplaced this letter – and I know I should have kept a copy of it. The Home office does not keep copies, or are unable to g...

Really is disgraceful that you will have to wait that long. I have just been through the process through the embassy in Madrid for my son and turnaround time was only 10 days.
