address

I will get the address off my wife, but I think asking them for the address is more effective than writing the the ombudsman. I don't think you could call them say, 2 weeks after you have applied and then start pushing them to finish it quicker. We had waited nearly 6 months, but they had done nothi...

OK so now I have my EEA2 residence certificate thing in my passport. I cannot thank enough the people here who have helped me through this insane process. Here is my story in brief in the hope it will help others: I am Australian. My wife is Hungarian / Australian. We moved from Oz to England around...

Are people saying that, if you have EEA2, and you want to go to another EU country and work, you have to apply for a visa? What if you are a European citizen, or a Brit, do you need a visa to conduct business in another EU country? I thought there was freedom of movement? Are they distinguishing bet...

COA issued but 5 months on, nothing

Well that time I rang for my COA, they sent it quite promptly. Now, 5 months on, we rang again - they have not even looked at our application. We asked, "isn't this supposed to be done by 6 months?" and they had no idea. Had never heard of that. So we spoke to their supervisor, who said, &...

Application made on WRONG form ... form changed as I filled

I hope someone can give some feedback on this ..... It appears I might have made my EEA1 and EEA2 applications on the wrong forms - as we were filling them in, they updated the form. Forms we used were Version 11/2007 to be used for applications made after 15th Nov 2007 .... We downloaded and began ...

How to get a COA (Certificate of Application)

Hello just rang "them" (HO, Border Agency, whatever they are called) regarding my outstanding Certificate of Application. I am a non-EU citizen (Australian) with an EU Wife (Hungarian – an A8 country). My wife has just completed her 12 month WRS. I have had an FMRS for 12 months (expired...

Thanks all for your thoughts, unfortunately these things are true - not legally essential, but by golly, practically essential! I wish I had known all this before I came over to the UK, I could have planned better to get everything sorted out. I thought I did have it all planned nicely but woah the ...

EEA2 Compulsory for rights, not optional

EEA2 Compulsory for rights, not optional I am a non-EU citizen (Australian) with an EU Wife (Hungarian – an A8 country). My wife has just completed her 12 month WRS. I have had an FMRS for 12 months (expires tomorrow, the 6th of June 2008). I have applied for my EEA2 and my wife has applied for EE...

.... all legislation discriminating against the A8 ..... This is how it works folks! Totally normal for there to be transitional arrangements for a number of years after a country joins the EU. When the UK joined it was certainly subject to transitional arrangements, but I do not recollect that bei...

Thanks John that is good information as usual, and it is a strange situation, and I agree, employers should not need to know all this about EEA rights - it was hard enough for me to track down and understand all the information let alone expect an agency to understand it. Final point .... in what wa...

crazy advice

Well, my EEA Family Permit expired and I still have not applied for my residence stamp because that would mean giving in my passport + wifes' passport and she needed it recently. And, offerred a job, to start today - tadah! nobody knows what the law is on Family Permits and the agency refused to tak...

Re: My experiance

Yes it is all quite strange, also a lot of work is created for everyone at every stage ... it appears Worker Registration and Border Control are not linked, you have to fill in everything from your WRS again in the application for the Residence Stamp. Now, surely these things would be more secure if...

I might give border control a call and post my results here. Official response from calling: - much better to apply before Family Permit expires, but not necessary. - once you apply, you get a letter confirming you have applied, which can be used in meantime to help prove your status when looking f...

Magarhe, What is an "A8", that your partner is on? Sorry I just realised what you meant by that question. My wife is an EU national, Hungarian, one of the Ascention 8 countries (Hungary) which means she needed to do the worker registration scheme ie register and work for a 12 month period...

Magarhe, What is an "A8", that your partner is on? The Residence Card is optional. You can apply for it any time after you arrive. 1 week to 10 years after you arrive. But... The Residence Card is good for two things: (1) entering the country hassle free (2) proving to an employer that yo...

how can I extend my family permit after 6 months in UK First point ... not after six months .... you apply before the expiry of the 6-month EEA Family Permit. You are not required to apply for a Residence Card in the UK. You can, if you want, apply any time after you arrive in the UK. That being sa...
