Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Glad to see someone else is on a similar level! We may be at a similar stage in terms of the progress bar, but our applications are a bit different with regard to their origins. I applied in mainland China through the Beijing embassy on March 27th. Processing times ought to be around 6 weeks - base...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

So still waiting on my passport. I submitted it on 9th feb and it was receive in the 14th. Estimated issue date was 11th March. Progression bar is still 3/4 of the way and application is still being processed. Hopefully I will get it around the middle of this month but no idea at this rate. ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

That was how I understood it too. Thank you for confirming <3 The article made me question whether my understanding was correct. The article from The Guardian does not deal with people from Northern Ireland being ineligible for Irish citizenship. Quite the reverse. It addresses a certain group of p...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

My Grandfather was born in Belfast, NI and I am claiming citizenship by descent. Is anyone in this situation like I am? I'm worried everything will have been for nothing. I was always under the impression that for the purposes of immigration and because of the Good Friday agreement, Eire was consid...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I used the Glasgow Passport Express Service, and I received my passport in around 15 working days following submitting my application. Thanks for clearing that up. That was my previous understanding of the situation. However, what TomRiddle had to say runs counter to that. I had no passport express...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Having read Tomriddle's post above and checking the Embassy website in the UK, it does seem like using Passport Express from the UK is not viable for 1st time applicants - or it may just amount to a fast postal service rather than any form of real processing expedition. From previous reading of othe...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

As I mentioned, I went to Liverpool’s passport express last Wednesday to hand in my passport application. It has now appeared in the DFA Passport tracker with an estimated issue date of the 25th May. If the timeline is to be believed it seems like a very worthwhile thing to do in taking it to Passp...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Spoke to DFA on the phone yesterday they informed me that I'm now an Irish citizen. They said my certificate will be printed and arrive within a few weeks. Congratulations. They seem to be more on top of the printing these days. A few weeks wait for it to be printed and delivered sure beats the 4 m...

Jaxx

That's Lee. I believe he asked you questions a couple of pages back about your father being an Irishman and you replied he was born on a military base? He seems to be still around.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I applied for FBR in December through the New Zealand Irish consulate, they informed me that my application is processed in New Zealand and only sent to Ireland for printing but the processing time as of January is still the advised 6 to 12 months. After reading the forums it seems everyone’s appli...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Before you get on your high horse once again, I will not let your points go unchallenged either. Namely, you are responsible for the closure/lock out of the previous thread on this forum. Add something as an applicant or approved applicant to answer questions or leave. I do not want another thread ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Due to the crazy long processing times, it now seems that I will be married before my FBR happens. Does that mean that I'll need to update my application information? I am not planning to change my name anytime in the near future. Do they care that I've gotten married? As long as the information an...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

It's starting to really grate on me, especially as they have also now missed their own deadline for a FOI request I submitted recently. :? They did not miss my FOI deadline, but their response (that the information did not exist) stretched credibility, as the statistic my FOI referred to is ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I'm inclined to agree, just trying to balance that with my growing impatience :) , but yes I'm no millionaire and I'd be even more infuriated if my lack of means meant everyone with more than me could push in front. A fast track system based on people paying more for the FBR service to get it done ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Michael There is no policy in place for expediting applications based on health. It only covers pregnancies. This is simply due to the fact that a parent needs to be a citizen in order to pass this right down to his or her offspring. Thus, allowing a child to be born to a parent, whose FBR applicat...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Fair comment. I guess I'm just very frustrated at not knowing whether I'm going to be stuck here in Australia or getting married in France next year. We've been together since 2015 and were hoping the FBR would all be wrapped up by now, but it isn't and not knowing is very hard on our relationship....

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Yup, apparently they've never heard the phrase, "Under promise and over deliver". I think it's more along the lines of, "We have your money now, F-you!". When I read the statements on the DFA website regarding estimated FBR processing times, I always get the same feeling as when...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

(If I've correctly understood your message Sulla, you had photos signed on the photo side?) Fvigaud No, the photos were signed and stamped on the reverse in all cases - both for the FBR application and for the passport. You have not made a mistake. The obverse should be pristine and free of creases...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Was a painless experience. One thing is my witness had stamped and signed all four of my passport photos and the chap in the post office said they only want 2. Luckily I had one non-stamped photo left from my batch of 5, and he cleaned off the stamp and signature from the back of one of the photos ...

I am looking ahead to when I eventually got the supporting documents back and was wondering whether both of my sisters could submit the hard copies of their children’s applications together in one pack so that each of the applications draws from the same supporting information at the same time. Re: Foreign Birth Registration

fvigaud There is no method to expedite an FBR application, with the exception of a pregnancy. Similarly, there is no method to track an FBR application. We have seen some signs of progress of late, with Richard, Me and Brawn all receiving our certificates. However, all of us applied quite some time...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Michael I don't think it was just (or even mainly) the office move that added to the wait times of US applicants. The relocation occurred at the start of 2019 and may have impacted me in terms of certificate printing times. However, for applications that had not yet been reviewed, the effect was li...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Michael From my perspective, the 88% completed within 6 months statistic, cited for 2018 applications is pure fantasy. It clearly clashes with the experience of the vast majority of people who post on this forum. If you recall the "50% of applications are incomplete" statement was found t...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Spav Thanks for the response. There has been no change in the status of my passport application since I submitted. The system still states "processing application". Anyway, I am not perturbed by that. I am happy the embassy here seem to have been a bit more efficient in terms of inputting...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Joey I used an agency to gather up the certificates necessary from the UK and Ireland. Since I was in Asia, it was far easier than doing it myself or imposing on relatives. So there's that - the convenience factor. Secondly, I think for many people there is a peace of mind element too. The agency i...
