Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Passport application received in New York Consulate: 1/14/19 Received in Dublin per tracking system: 2/18/19 Spav Just to clarify: are you saying that your passport application did not appear on the tracking system until one month after you submitted it? That's strange because I also submitted via ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Michael You can use this form to indicate that you want to complain. There is the usual 250 character limit. Just briefly state that you want to make a complaint about the FBR section and that it does not relate to an appeal of a decision. Someone replied to me very quickly and asked for the full c...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Jaxx The computer clock thing just beggars belief. It's one of those things that is just so stupid that you would never believe it could be true. I changed the clock as a last resort because I could never get the webchat to work. I felt a slight thrill when it actually began to function and I made ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I submitted my passport application at the embassy on March 27th and it appeared in the tracking system on the same day. That does not mean much. It is still estimated to take 6 weeks in total to process.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Sean That's great to hear. The whole passport process seems to be significantly better organised (with tracking etc) than the system in place for FBR. I still have at least 4 weeks to wait for mine - that's the official wait time. Right now, I see myself getting the Turkish passport before the Iris...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Funny, I applied before you and was told that my application had not been looked at yet and that they take applications STRICTLY in order received. This does not add up at all. My application was i. Dublin before you even applied online. Getting a little pissed off! Michael Spike applied through th...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Today I received a response to my FOI request Amusingly, the FBR department claim that the information sought does not exist and they can find no records pertaining to it. To clarify, I asked them how many incomplete applications they received, how many were directly returned to applicants as per po...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

This leads me to two conclusions. Firstly, the likely timeline for new applications is much longer than six months and secondly the clock doesn't start ticking until the DFA have acknowledged receipt. Spike I am glad that you had a productive customer service experience with the DFA staff member wh...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Just reading the Timelines thread and the template goes like this: What is the difference between 'application received on' and 'acknowledgement'? I had an email confirming they'd received my application on 20th March, so obviously that is the former. But what is the 'acknowledgement' stage? I thin...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Richard Good to hear that you finally took receipt of the physical FBR certificate. I would imagine Brawn will be getting his this week or early next week based on the printing time (March 13th) he indicated. It really is good to see that things are once again moving. From mid-January to mid-March ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Final FBR Timeline (Revised) I have corrected this, as some information I was told previously later proved to be incorrect. For instance, I was informed that I must have been added to the FBR in December and my certificate had been printed in February. I have also removed the "put forward for ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Coincidentally, after contacting the FBR office only yesterday, my certificate arrived in my mail this morning. That’s great news. Must have been a nice thing to wake up to on a Saturday morning. I see it took the FBR section 3.5 months to print and post your certificate. I was just shy of 4 months...

August 1, 2018 mailed her documents form the US to Dublin August 14, 2018 got an email that stated her documents and application have been received. Told 6 months. Feb 15, 2019 called to see if "lost in the mail". Told was still in the queue. March 26, 2019 called again. No change in stat...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

People are telling me not to worry about the application, they say since I haven't heard anything thus far, they must not need anything else. However, I'm not so sure, that they even look at the documents in the application until they actually get to processing it. I would agree with what people ar...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Lee This forum thread is just a continuation of an earlier one that started way back in 2016. I believe Wavey kicked it off. As for timelines, well, you have Michael and everyone who responded to his prompting by posting their timelines to thank for that. I am also happy to see more of those being ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Michael Despite being a millennial, I am far from talented when it comes to using programs such as those that are capable of altering documents. I am often mocked about this. Therefore, I had to beg others to help me do it. He was a bit over-zealous and also blurred out the embassy stamp at the bot...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Michael The new certificate is a little different from the one in the link you shared. The core text box design format is identical, as is the content. However, the paper the certificate is printed on has been altered. The background is more blueish than green now and the size of the harp in the ce...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I just finished at the embassy. Passport application now submitted in person - March 28th 2019. The place was as dead this time as when last I went. Apart from staff and a courier, I was the only one there. As usual, the staff there were extremely helpful and polite. Though I don’t relish the train ...

Michael / Jaxx Thanks for the congratulations. It sure has been a long wait to get to this point. I am gratified that I can finally move on with other things. Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Well that's a relief. I'm dearly hoping my timeline follows similarly to yours Sulla, but I guess seeing some of the delays other people have had, I shouldn't get my hopes up. I had planned to be living in France by September, but I think that might be wishful thinking. It shows how bad the situati...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Interestingly the embassy I sent my application to states on their website that it takes around 6 months from the date of receipt - which reading it says to me receipt by them but I think it really means receipt in Dublin? Actually, I am certain that the time runs from the date of receipt at the ad...

Instead, I will go to Beijing on Wednesday, submit the passport application and retrieve the documents that they needed for FBR, but not for the pa...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Michael Here is a reprint of my timeline. There are some known unknowns in there. I feel like Donald Rumsfeld. August 14th 2018. Applied to the embassy in Beijing. This was a hand delivered application. November 29th 2018. Told as a response to an inquiry that the application had been submitted for...
