Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

It has taken them a full 2 months now just for printing of my physical FBR certificate. Essentially, it just amounts to an A4 piece of paper with a stamped official seal. Looking back at other people's posted timescales, I got through the approval stage reasonably quickly (4 months 27 days) but I ha...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Micheal I do not have that information. It was never supplied to me. I simply know the application date at the embassy (Aug 14th) and that on or before November 29th it was put forward for final approval. On or before January 10th, I was added to the FBR. That's all I have. I would assume that my ap...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Michael I submitted my application in person to the embassy one week before yours. I already received a response from the customer service people. I do not have any reason to suspect that they will not respond in full to the complaint. Tom Actually, I am a citizen of Ireland and have been since I w...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

I expect to receive the FBR certificate next week. That will bring this process to a conclusion at around the 7 month stage. That is by my measurement from the date of application until now. I also anticipate that the DFA will come back to me on my complaint in the coming week. I predict that they w...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

As Tom indicated there is now a page which indicates that webchat is defunct for FBR inquiries. Please note that queries relating to Foreign Birth Registration can only be handled via phone, Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm Phone: +353 1 671 1633 https://www.dfa.ie/about-us/contact-us/contact-foreign-birth...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

As a general update on my own situation, I still await the arrival of the FBR certificate. It should be in the post from Dublin either already or in the next 2-3 days. If the embassy was accurate in their communication, it ought to be with me in a week or so. It has been observed previously that the...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Michael, That's just appalling. I feel annoyed just reading of your plight. There is no doubt in my mind that staff in the department have not been doing their job properly. This is quite clear from the massive discrepancy in the processing times for applications received on or around the same date....

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

I finally figured out why Webchat did not work for me and always displayed the hours of operation message. It was not because I was calling at the incorrect time. It was instead due to the fact that my computer's desktop clock was set to Beijing time. I adjusted it to Irish time and it worked withou...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Michael / Upliam If my FBR is delivered according to the information I received from the embassy - I liked the certainty of "will be dispatched from Dublin to the Embassy here in Beijing in the first week of March. " - then you guys may well be in an identical position. I certainly hope so...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Tom I wish that the explanation for my failure to reach anyone at the DFA was just that my mind was addled and I decided to call on a Sunday when they were closed. Alas, this is not the case. " Yesterday" refers to Monday February 18th, when I attempted to use webchat and call repeatedly b...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

I just received an update. I am less than thrilled, but at least I can reschedule my trip to Turkey to a more appropriate time knowing this. The Foreign Birth Registration section in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has been undergoing a restructuring process. As a result, I have been inf...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Tom, Thanks for your input. We also had a major holiday in China recently, which may have impacted things. However, I am more inclined to believe the delay is on the DFA side rather than the embassy side. I read a post about a new style of certificate that had caused printing delays. Moreover, in al...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Mattaus, Banking on being entered into the FBR within a time-frame of 5 months is at this juncture quite optimistic. I assume that that would not even be sufficient for the purpose of remaining in the United Kingdom anyway. You would almost certainly need to physically receive the FBR certificate an...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

I would direct anyone who seeks to excuse the delays that many of us are experiencing to the last line of the FBR application. It clearly states that: "Incomplete or incorrect applications will be returned" Since the DFA appear not to be following this simple rule and are instead electing ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

In my view, if people submit an FBR application without the specified documentation then it should simply be denied and returned to them with the application fee retained. That would incentivize people to comply with the regulations and fully meet the requirements of the process. This may sound drac...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Micheal 123, I am not quite a collector of passports. Currently, I only hold two (UK and St. Kitts & Nevis), but I should be able to add another two in 2019 (Irish and Turkish) provided the DFA return my documentation and FBR certificate sometime soon! If Brexit turns sour enough to instigate a ...

I am hoping it arrives swiftly next week once people come back to work following Chinese New Year. I am ...

Hi all, I am still waiting on the FBR certificate to arrive. As Chinese New year is now underway, I have to resign myself to at least another 2 weeks of waiting. Stephen-W I requested a passport application form via the embassy online contact form. I sent it on Friday morning and 2x forms arrived in...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

The DFA evidently planned really poorly for the surge in applications that emerged in the wake of Brexit and to a lesser extent after Trump's election. It's understandable that they did not predict these outcomes and the resulting uptick in application volume. What is less easy to comprehend (or exc...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Michael123, That's really disappointing. To be candid, it just doesn't seem to add up at all. We saw applications by Sean and Spav processed far faster. Moreover, my own application was approved more swiftly and I went through an embassy. Did you mention these other cases to them when you called? Un...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Michael123 I am sure that your FBR E-Mail will be coming soon and your long wait is nearly at an end. I was actually, a mite surprised that my notification arrived before yours. Yes, I applied first, but indirectly via an embassy. Yours was direct. You would imagine yours should be faster. However, ...
