When does the automated check happen?

In the process of applying for settled status, GOV.UK asked me a bunch of questions and then told me to upload evidence. Does it mean I failed the automated check? When exactly in the application process does the automated check take place? I don't remember any message like: Oops, sorry, your NINo d...

How exactly does someone with pre-settled status apply for settled status?

Those of you who already held pre-settled status at the time you applied for settled status, how exactly did you do it? I found the website a bit confusing. Here is what I tried: (1) Clicked on "Start now" on this page and it gave me two options: - Prove your identity - Sign in (2) Clicked...

Hi Dee, my mother hasn't returned yet (still no flights).

Have you decided to reapply?

Re: Another pre-settled status after the 5 years are up?

this does not come from an official government source Fair enough. Speaking of official sources, I just noticed that gov.uk has added a subsection that addresses the issue: If you’ve left the UK You may be able to get pre-settled status if you were living in the UK before 31 December but you were n...

Re: Another pre-settled status after the 5 years are up?

Many thanks for your reply, kamoe ! You gave me a useful keyword: "re-apply". I did some more googling, and came across this : First they describe an example that is almost identical to my mum's situation (except that she is still not in the UK): Mika is from Finland. He moved to the UK in...

Another pre-settled status after the 5 years are up?

My mother travelled to her home country shortly before the first lockdown and got stuck there because there are still no flights back to the UK. And even if there were flights, it would probably be not worth the risk at the moment (given her age). If her absence will be over 12 months, she won't be ...

Re: Will a legacy version of the EEA-route still be around in 2024?

A worrying feature is that it seems to me that you need to apply for settled status before the five years of pre-settled status are complete. For most people, the answer is that they will have completed five years on qualifying routes before the five years of pre-settled status are complete, and ca...

Will a legacy version of the EEA-route still be around in 2024?

Allow me to quote The Guardian: Hundreds of thousands are being given second-class pre-settled status, which means they will face a new cliff-edge in five years . That’s another disaster waiting to happen. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/oct/09/two-million-eu-citizens-apply-to-remain-in-br...

raume, did you manage to find something that sheds light on your question?

I'd be interested as well.
"The rules now require the family member to have been resident for a continuous qualifying period before the EEA citizen ceased activity."
How long is this qualifying period?

Where does it say that the UK now considers my mother as my family member?

My mother received her residence card but all it says is the following: EU SCHEME PRE-SETTLEMENT She would like to apply for a Schengen visa and if we could prove that she is considered a "family member of an EU citizen" by one of the EU countries, the application process would be much eas...

Re: EU settlement - Non EU family member - CoA and decision time

It seems like a lot of the unusual delays with processing occur when applicants (including myself) have the biometrics appointment at the Croyden centre. Could it be that the centre in Croyden is just larger and processes more applicants? Then even if the centre has the same relative rate of proble...

Re: Eea Family Permit Visa Dependant Step Parent

From personal experience: I know a French citizen who managed to bring her non-EEA mother and her non-EEA step-father to Belgium. And since the law is meant to be the same across the EU, the answer to your question for the UK is most likely: yes. So keep investigating. Or maybe someone will point yo...

Absent from the UK while her pre-settled application is being considered?

My non-EEA family member is in the UK on a family permit and has applied for pre-settled status. Due to personal circumstances, she might need to leave the UK for a few months. Note that she would definitely return to the UK before her family permit expires. So there will probably be no problem re-e...

After five years you will have gained full settled status.
Could you please elaborate on how exactly it would happen?

And why would they then close it for new application?

Re: Applying for citizenship right after getting a permanent status?

CR001, I guess I misunderstood what you meant. So this retroactive thing didn't allow anyone to apply for citizenship after just 5 years? It was just possible for an EEA national who already spent over 6 years in the UK to get a PR status retroactively and apply for citizenship right away? But there...

If you have pre settled status, then you don't have 5 years etc.
True, I definitely don't have 5 years yet. I was just curious.

Would this option be still open in the future? Or would it be not possible to apply for this (old) PR application in a couple of years? E.g. after Brexit and such.

Applying for citizenship right after getting a permanent status?

I am an EEA national currently working in the UK and holding a pre-settled status. Recently, I have been told that there is a type of permanent status that is retroactive. That is, one could apply for citizenship immediately after getting this permanent status, and not after one year of holding it, ...
