Child Benefit is not part of Universal Credit. If you are allowed Public Funds, claim Child Benefit in your own name only.

UK citizens ... If you're planning to move back to the UK and you think you will need means-tested benefits and housing straight away, think about how you would cope if you can't meet the conditions of the HRT for three months or more https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/british-and-irish-cit...

Re: British national who is returning after living a few years in another EU country // residence test for benefits ?

Thank you for your replies. I am returning to UK due to brexit and want to use surinder Singh route before it's no longer available. We have savings for now but I know we will soon need help in case we don't find jobs before we run out of money. Whether Singh will work for your husband is matter fo...

Re: Are we eligible for 30 hours of childcare

Does anybody know whether we can apply as the home office was very unsure and told me that he had never been asked this question before. If you and your husband are claimingTax Credits (legacy benefit), maybe check if you can claim help with childcare via that? I'm not sure how the replacement bene...

Thank you, I have no idea how this works as we have never had any, even for this one for my mom was somebody's suggestion and there is no problem if they won't give her, she lives with us anyway. She might get it because of the welfare rules at the moment, but be prepared for any changes (reduction...

Re: Pension Credit EU citizen

There will be more benefit cuts too in future, including for exisitng claimants, as we are already seeing. The UK has been forced to bring in an annual welfare bill cap. Only the State Pension is ringfenced from any future benefit cuts as that is now contribution based. JSA is also ringfenced from c...

Re: Pension Credit EU citizen

Thank you very much, sounds so complicated... We've sent what they have asked for, there is no problem if she does not qualify, just tried. Not really complicated. It's all part of stopping UK benefits from being "a magnet to the UK", which they said they would do back in 2013. The UK's b...

Re: is tax free childcare public funds?

Interestingly, they're not saying IT IS public fund, but they're saying that if your visa says that, you can't have this benefit. Is it perhaps that only those who are receiving certain other welfare benefits which are on the public funds list are eligible for the tax-free childcare? Hence while it...

Looking back on your posts, I see you are intending to use the Surinder Singh route to bring a spouse to the UK. Have you looked to see if you can claim from the EEA country you are residing in? They may pay more benefits and might not have the strict work requirements and sanctions that the UK has.

Also be aware that apart from the money parents are expected to earn when they ask for low income benefits, you will likely get less benefit money when you are on Unversal Credit as you are not working many hours. The Welfare Reform laws ensure that work pays and that benefits claimants are not bett...

The latest of these changes they gave notice on and that is coming in, is that a younger spouse...
