Re: Foreign Birth Registration

What a shame the old thread was closed, thanks for that BrexitEscapee .Despite warning them myself they continued to make unhelpful and off topic remarks. Let's hope they don't return. Thank you to Richard74 who provided the address to send further documents to the FBR team! Couldn't find it anywher...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Their salaries are irrelevant, we all would like them to just do their job! And in doing so, 1 automated email to all applicants currently in the queue, apologising, giving a reason for the delay and a rough estimate of when to receive their certificates would help. That's basic customer ser...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Phoned Balbriggan today. About 40mins over 3 attempts, but got through in the end. Handler a bit less jittery than the lad I spoke to last, albeit still a bit rushed, understandably. Some good news. Sulla - my certificate was printed on 10-Mar-19 . Apparently printing of certs has only recommended ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Today, I received several communications from the DFA, all within half an hour. 1) Initially, a confirmation of a freedom of Information request I submitted. This relates to statistical information pertinent to incomplete applications and what is done with them. 2) Next, a response to my complaint ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

DFA not printing any certificates since the move to new offices is more than likely the cause of the ongoing delays. Simply shocking to be quite honest, long given up trying to contact them for their random generic replies. Prioritising passports also seems illogical given FBR costs more and represe...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Sulla, Did you have any reply following your complaint? 6 month stage has passed for me, despite email of receipt in London in September and then another saying 'advanced stage' in December. Clearly, both emails were meaningless. I have had no response to my complaint as of yet but if I receive noth...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

So today is a good day. Received email confirmation that I am now an Irish Citizen. My timelines are as follows: Application sent: 30 Jun 2018 Acknowledgement of receipt at London Embassy: 2nd July 2018 Sent for approval: 9th December 2018 Email confirmation of Irish citizenship: 13th March 2019 So...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

To be fair, the website says applications take 6 months but ‘can take up to 12 months’ due to the ‘complex nature’ of some cases. So effectively the DFA are saying that all the cases have suddenly become ‘complex’ hence why we are all waiting beyond 6 months? Poor/no existing communication is the wo...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

I’d be surprised also if this is your FBR certificate. I have almost identical timeline to you via London and the email in December saying it had reached Dublin but nothing since. Then again, I’m sure these people in Dublin do a pick n mix/lottery of which application they approve next and send out ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

I also anticipate that the DFA will come back to me on my complaint in the coming week. I predict that they will attempt to claim that the application timeline runs not from when I submitted my application to the embassy, but when it was received in Dublin or even when they opened it or began proce...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

I agree with the comments above, and am almost at the point of an earlier poster of just asking for my money back and originals sent back. My certificates cost over £200 to obtain and to think they are now in the possession and custody of such an incompetent organisation is becoming increasingly ala...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Contacted DFA via web chat today, as their website states is 1 of 2 methods of communication (the other is phone) to get in touch with them regarding FBR. After waiting around 20 minutes, got through to an 'Agent' and he said flat out 'no we only deal with passport enquiries here, FBR enquiries have...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

They claim that their office move has improved efficiency. Certainly nothing seen to evidence that on this forum, if anything it’s got worse.

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Completed my online application & paid my 278 euros yesterday. Final screen was as below. Posted my documents direct to Ballybriggan today. Hopefully, the process will speed up now that UK applicants no longer have to send everything to the Irish Embassy in London. “Foreign Birth Registration T...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

The political situation in the UK this week appears to have calmed with the prospect of 'no deal' reduced slightly in favour of an extended period of 'Article 50' and thus staying in the EU beyond the 29th March 2019. Not that this will help any of us currently stuck in this queue despite as someone...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Still claiming ‘5-6 months’ on the DFA website. Not very honest considering the real life experience and genuine delays of well over 6-9 months throughout this forum. Last week I was informed by the DFA via WebChat "The current turnaround time is 8 to 9 Months Minimum". They also said thi...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Despite the many and unprecedented levels of applications which I imagine is into at least the mid tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands, it is disappointing that having paid nearly £300 for this process as a U.K. based applicant there are no updates during the process. I tried the web chat...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

From most posts here of those who have completed the process, it is hit and miss who gets a 'Congrats' email and who doesn't. I saw today on Instagram under tag 'Irishcitizen' that someone who applied just days before me in September 2018 has a few days ago received their certificate. They did not r...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

First time poster, but long time reader. Applied 5th September 2018 through London. Received confirmation of receipt email 6th September 2018 from London. Then I received an email out of the blue during the first week of December to say my application was at an 'advanced stage' and sent to Dublin. H...
