I have in the past been issued an 18 month multi trip schengen, through the embassy in London. I planned 2 trips to France and presented booking arrangements. The key is that the two trips were 13 months apart.

Pg 14 of the Government response to the Path to Citizenship quite clearly says: " Permanent residence • Indefinite leave to remain in the UK • Can switch to Citizenship at a later date" http://www.bia.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/documents/aboutus/consultations/closedconsultations/pat...

It looks as though the HSMP Tier 1 & 2 will be classified as 'Economic Migrants'. How they will manage your situation, I don't know. There is not enough detail about how they plan to deal with people already in the system.

Having read the Governments Response to the Path to Citizenship Consultation, I get the impression that ILR will be kept as an alternative to citizenship. The reasoning seems to be that they 'understand' that some people can not hold dual citizenship. It also implies on page 14 (the diagram) that th...

Hi Vanadil,

No, it's not but the general rhetoric of our new immigration minister has not been good at all.

I'm not going to start worrying unduly because as you say, News of the World is not exactly a reputable source (thank goodness!)

uuuuuuuuuhhhhhm... look at the post above yours - it has the link.

Stories from News of the World have always been somewhat dubious but I have to wonder if they have guessed the intention of the Homeoffice.

Hi, I did the life in the UK test a few weeks ago. Basically, if your english is not very good but you can memorise parrot fashion and you have some understanding of english, you could probably pass. It would probably however, beneficial to go on and ESOL course instead of trying the above. Good luc...

Yes, policy by tabloid. Makes me think of a song that has the fiollowing lyrics because it describes these tabloid readers so well:

"We are the angry mob
We read the papers every day
We like who like
We hate who we hate
But we’re also easily swayed"

I did my Limited Leave to Remain in Birmingham. It took 5 very long hours. After the first hour, they asked me: "Oh and whose birth certificate is this?" That was after I had told them the first time... I only got asked that another 2 times.

I think what annoys me the most is the claim that we put pressure on their public services. They seem to conveniently forget that we pay for the services (with our council tax and various other taxes) we use. So, who is really putting pressure on these services?? they should be looking at their own ...

it has a reference code on it, which matches up to my address and name, they claim they might want to do future surveys. I'll have to think about it. I can't afford to lose my chance at citizenship.

Home Office - Customer Experience of Managed Migration

I received a Home Office - Customer Experience of Managed Migration questionnaire in the post yesterday (I recently had to apply for Limited Leave to Remain due to their retrospective ruling on the 4 to 5 year change on the Ancestral Visa). Do they really expect people to fill it in? I mean if I act...

But I am not even sure that the quote from the French website is correct, or complete! The rules say that you apply to the country which is your main destination, but go on to say that if there is no main destination, you apply to the country you will first enter. The problem as regards the example...
