you can apply for family visa along with yours or you can apply for family visa later when you are in U.K. I will also recommend you to apply for family visa along with your visa application but with bank statement with higher balance. You are only eligible for conversion if you have completed the degree from U.K. If you have completed a degree from U.K then i would recommend you to do it from here.

If you dont have degree from U.K then ofcourse there is no way of getting extension while living in U.K.
