Re: Latin America residency

Paraguay would be good too 6 months residence each year for 3 years and you can become a Paraguayan citizen but the Paraguay passport does allow visa free travel to Thailand. Then there is Chile the closest to western standards, Ecuador nice beaches history and Colombia looks like an amazing countr...

Re: Latin America residency

I have watched a few YouTube videos about getting residency in Paraguay, Panama by making a bank deposit of $5.000 but this comes with conditions etc like not staying out of the country for too long plus you will have to fly back every so often but is there any other countries in this region which ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi Lee, The figures you provided seem really low - aside from the passport application number. Previously, I have been advised as part of an FOI request that in 2018, 25,823 worldwide FBR applications were received by the DFA and 17,414 entries made on the register. As I mentioned at the time I pos...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Unable to be parted from my UK passport or driving licence for such a long time I had my witness certify a copy of my licence. I know with absolute certainty that this was included with my application yet according to the chatline operative, no such paper was scanned into their system. There is no ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hello, I live in New York City and submitted my FBR application in September 2018. I got a receipt and application number right away, and then not a peep. I am concerned about timing now because I will be moving in July, and my current post office is one of the lower rungs of hell. Has anyone who s...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I had dinner with one of my tenants in Bangkok last night. He and his girlfriend are from the U.K. and live together in Thailand. They have been here for over 2 years. His girlfriend has an Irish grandfather and applied for FBR through the Irish embassy in Bangkok on July 22nd 2018. She had a reque...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

That must be a relief to you Lee. Am so glad they sent back your passport, I take it they took a copy or do you now have to supply a certified copy? That is a long time to wait to get through to them, I will need to call them as the local embassy just isn't replying to anything sent on the web cont...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

To clarify, I mean that my mother if she were to apply for the FBR because she was born before the July 1956 date of the act, would be retroactively a citizen from the July 1956 date because there wasn't really a register for her to have been on. Correct? IrishAmerican2 Here is a link explaing abou...

I have emailed the embassy in London via foreign.london@dfa.ie to see if I can get a response. Applying over a year ago does seem longer than most. Re: Foreign Birth Registration

On the NI issue and Guardian article, the position of those in the North is very serious. Under the GFA, those born in the North can identify as British, Irish or both. With the UK leaving the EU, those in the North looking to exercise treaty rights as EU/Irish citizens - for example, a right to ha...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

When you say you sent copies - what do you mean? I believe that all documents need to be originals. That is apart from the passport, other documents should be originals or copies obtained from GRO (sorry I think of those as originals too) but not photocopies I believe - I could be wrong and someone...

What is your nationality? Do you have family in any of these countries? Do you have skills? You must have lived in any of these countries for a number of years for naturalisation Just like CR001 said Ireland 5 years or more Switzerland 12 years of residence (probably the hardest on the list) Also yo...
