Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi everyone, I just found this forum, and wow has it really made me realize just how long the process is really going to take, and that I am not in a good place. Just for some information - I sent in my documents at the end of December 2018, email confirming receipt of documents received January 9t...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi Luna Glad you didn't post all of the passport that would of been so not funny . You are Irish from your Father that's what I say to my mum as her mum my grandmother was born in Ireland and Irish by Irish law . If you do encounter problems for your kids applications they will be a way to resolve i...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Thank you, Lee! I thought perhaps I was going crazy (which is not too far off), and kept looking at the list. It is very confusing though: My application has two lists. One is short; one is much longer. The longer one includes school secretary, so I went with that. I was nervous about it though. As...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Thank you, Tom. That is the exact list I have, so hoping (very much hoping) that all is well there. I am going to do as you say and send in my parents' marriage certificate and mine, with a note and the application numbers. Thank you! Hi Luna This must be a very recent change and nobody had noticed...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi all. Thanks for your response, Lee. My application does list school secretary as an acceptable witness. I wish I could attach a photo. As for the marriage licenses, wondering if I should send them in. It's strange to me though: after all birth certificates say I am my father's child, and that I ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi everyone. Nice to meet you. I just began this process for my kids, so I'm posting a timeline that I suspect I won't be finalizing until sometime next year. I'm very anxious about the whole process and hope that I did everything right. Here's my current timeline: 8/1/19: filled out online applica...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Interesting to read the postings etc here. I’m new to the forum. I received the email stating my application and supporting documentation had been received on 16/04/19. My documents were sent to Dublin office. Curious to know if any progress was being made I called Dublin on Thursday last week. I w...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi Colleen This is really hard to answer and the only thing which is coming to my head is, on Ancestry.com there is a data base of birth records and census. So you could find your birth on the registrar on a long list of other names born on the same day in the same district as you and possibly with ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

That is great news! Did you both apply, or just your wife? Unfortunately, I do not qualify. Only my wife applied. We will use the EU family reunification policy to meet our goals. Hi LeifRnR If you reside in Ireland for 4 years out of the 9 years you can become a naturalised citizen through marraig...

Re: British Moving to Ireland with Non-EU family member

If your spouse leaves the UK too long then the residence permit will be cancelled and for Ireland you would have to get a tourist visa just like CR001 said and your spouse will have to get temporary residency after this stage before getting permanent residency

Here is a link about The Irish passport service numbers stated by The Tanaiste and Minister for foreign affairs Simon Coveney for 2017 to 2019 and so far this year 500,000 passports have been issued. https://www.breakingnews.ie/ireland/almost-500000-irish-passports-issued-in-2019-to-date-937023.html

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Thank you for responding. How many days would you wait to resubmit if it is not received? Hi Shannon No problem happy to help and I wouldn't resubmit if you have already done it but did you go through the final stages of the online application including paying the fee and then printing out your onl...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Well guys, my wait is over. I received my FBR certificate and documents this morning. So it would appear August 2018 applications are being processed and it’s quite quick once you make it to the top of the pile. Finding this forum was a massive comfort when I’d sent off my application but not heard...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Hi all, Apologies if this has been posted before, but it's now been so long since I submitted my application (9 and a half months and counting), that I fear that I'm going to be moving house before my application is processed and my documents sent. I'm moving in mid September, and I'm not holding m...

Re: Witnesses for a FBR application

Hi Lee. I do have a GP surgery, but I don't know if they have stamps or business cards. And if they don't, then I run into the same problem of what do I do. I suppose I ought to find out first, but I would like to know just how necessary the actual stamp/business card bit is. Thanks for the heads u...

Re: Witnesses for a FBR application

Hi Nicecupoftea You could ask your GP surgery but they might charge you for the service also they only like doing this if you have been on their books for a while . I had to do this because my bank said they couldn't do it and I then had to pay £30.00 and I requested this service as it wasn't on off...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

My son is applying through descent through my Irish born mother. One of the required supporting documents is a copy of her CURRENT passport or driving licence. My mother is 87 years old and has understandably let these both expire. Has this sort of issue been a problem for anyone else or can I hope...
