Re: First adult passport - Different surname to naturalisation certificate

Yes, she can apply in her married name. Just make sure you first change her other passport(s) to the married name, and then provide all of them to HMPO when applying for the UK passport, shouldn't be a problem.

Re: Tax Self assessment

It is required to submit the most recent full tax return and SA302 when self employed. Not optional. I understand and that’s why I raised the question as I don’t understand how they would ask for something that hmrc clearly show it’s not due till January 2025. Would it be ok to write a cover letter...

Re: Tax Self assessment

You don't need tax return for naturalisation as such, but if you want to attach it, nothing stops you from submitting tax return now. No need to wait until December.

Re: First UK Passport Application - Haven't got the 'Documents received' acknowledgement

Same issue here. Docs delivered on Thursday morning (25 July), but still no acknowledgment. Tried calling helpline, and they say "allow up to 2 weeks for the acknowledgment". Looks like a holiday season in the Passport Office has started.

I needed British citizenship cause I could travel over Europe and apply for job roles over in the Europe
You know that you can't work in Europe with a British passport? You'd need to get a visa same way you need it with your current nationality.

Re: I was not instructed to return BRP

No one tracks returned BRPs. You can always say you sent it, Royal Mail loses thousands of letters every year, HO have no means to check if you really sent it. The only way for HO to issue a fine, if they catch you using the BRP which was supposed to be returned. As long as you don't use it, there w...

Re: Long Residence - Contradicting rules and guidance wording

Would be very grateful if you can let me know of any successful application as this is my key issue! Can confirm a successful application. ILR long residence, in the country since 2012, absences between May 2014 and May 2024 above 700 days. No single absence above above 184 days, and no absences in...

Re: Unwanted dual nationality observation in new passport

The only way to remove this observation is to renounce your Russian citizenship and send a translated copy of the certificate from the Embassy which proves you have renounced it.

Re: ILR 10 year route complex case

Speak to an immigration advisor, it will be much cheaper (£100-150) than wasting £4k (ILR + priority) on most likely an unsuccessful application.

You need to list all trips before you made the application. If you don't plan any additional before your application date, it's all good.

Re: General discussion on naturalization applications

I can see that some people who applied in August or Sept have received responses. There doesn't seem to be any order but at least people are being approved. And that is the frustrating part... next week it will be 5 month for me... It's a random system. No logic in their selection of cases for appr...

If you don't receive a decision by the end of November, you can say it's taking longer. I hope he got the year wrong, he put 2017 instead of 2021... if h...

The longest someone reported waiting was 221 days and the shortest was 18 days. Thanks for doing this, it's really hel...
