To our surprise, her application was refused on the basis that she supposedly failed to meet the £18,600 minimum gross financial threshold.
Your opening post makes it seem it was an outright refusal of the application.

You may request a reconsideration.

Re: Spouse visa

This doesn't give the full picture. You need to show the entire contents of the decision letter, omitting personal details, so it can be seen if they stated why they believe you didn't satisfy D-LTRP.1.1. D-LTRP.1.2. seems to indicate that the financial requirement and/or the English language requir...

Thanks, do I need to provide my bank statement which shows that money is going out of my account to pay the rent and council tax? I am relying on cash saving for our application and the account I use to pay rent is a different account.
You're not required to.

That's ok. You're overthinking this bit.

I see, so for the ones that aren't joint evidence, it's good practice to have a evidence from each of us for the same month?

Re: Spousal Visa extension Documents

I think it's the last payslip really, but it's neater if the other documents are dated before the date of application, where possible. A typical example is if the normal frequency of your bank statement means it falls outside of the date of application, you won't be penalised for that. Landlord lett...

I am assuming I can’t just rely on 4 January payslip without accompanying bank statement.
If you were paid on 4th January, is the pay for the month of January?

Also, do you know the period the payslip covers?

Re: Change adress on submitted application

Apparently we didn't qualify for a extension as her visa expired in may and she had already visited the UK before she returned. It's the highlighted bit above that's contributed to the confusion. It gives the impression that she may have entered the UK on a visit visa; which is a whole different th...

You can include just the bank statements and don't unnecessarily worry about the 28-day rule here.

Do ensure the statements cover the required period.

What did she use to visit the UK? Was this after the expiration of the fiance visa?

Appears to be an interval of about 9 months. Nothing in December 2018 even? It is really the 2 years before the application date that is requested to be covered. Do what you can to start with a date closest to the 2 years prior and thereafter spread it evenly about every 4 or 5 months up to the appl...
