I used to work for the National Asylum Support Service, part of Immigration and Nationality Directorate, and had full access to the Central Immigration Database - so I'd be sure that BIA will have access to the same information too.

Dear Arti, I am not a professional, just trying to help as much as possible. Perhaps another board member will offer more detailed advice than I can. Firstly, regarding the issue of the school's letter, it is quite clear that for your appeal you will need another letter from the school clearly stati...

That's the way I understand it, tinux, but "passing from one level to another" surely means passing all modules in the level. She would not have to pass Reading level 1, level 2 and level 3 but she would have to pass Reading level 1, Writing level 1, Speaking level 1 and Listening level 1.

Hi tinux, Permanent Residency (PR) is termed Indefinite Leave to Remain, or ILR. This should help you when you are browsing for information. I'm basing my answer on the following website: http://www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk/applying/nationality/knowledgeoflifeintheuk From what it says there (copied bel...

You should be able to find all the information that you are looking for on the UK Visas website, http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk There are detailed guidelines for Applicants and for Sponsors. It looks like the cost for a Spouse visa has now shot up to an incredible £500. http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/servlet...

Does anyone else think that this could be a case of very bad advice from UK Visas? If Mother was only coming for three weeks, surely all she needs is a visitor visa, which would not require evidence that she was wholly dependent on anyanthony?

The landing card that he showed me has had the "For Official Use" section completed, and it is clear from the handwriting and the use of codes that it wasn't the student doing it himself. He aslo has a Form IS81 - Notice to a Person REquired to Submit to Further Examination, stating that h...

From which country did your student fly in from? The only conceivable way in which your student could have possibly entered the country via Heathrow without being stamped is if he flew in from the Republic of Ireland. The UK considers flights from Ireland to be domestic flights and thus all arrival...

The apropriate answer should always be the truth. From your mesages it seems that you applied as a student, intending to follow a course of study in the UK; however, you have now withdrawn from this programme and therefore are no longer eligible to hold a student visa. Surely it shouldn't be any mor...

Passport not stamped at pasport control

Greetings all, My name is Simon and I work for a UK university. One of my students has entered through Heathrow, but his passport has not been stamped. This means that he is in turn unable to register with the police, as required. I have called Borders and Immigration repeatedly, who have passed me ...
