I can guarantee there is no way she will be refused entry, if as you state she still has valid leave on a youth mobility visa. It will probably take the IO 5 mins to check that this is the case. As for granting your gf a code 8, I will admit that this is entirely at the discretion of the IO, and to ...

Re: lost passport/visa....advice please

hi wondering if anyone can help/advise. My girlfriend (New Zealand citizen) recently lost her passport whilst over in the UK where she also has a two year working visa. She has already applied for her new passport from london, which she should hopefully get back in the next week or two, however, sh...

Alternatively, in absence of a British passport being issued in time, OP may apply for " right of adobe " endorsement in the Australian passport. Not anymore she can't, the Rules now state you cannot hold both the certificate of a Right of Abode and a British passport at the same time. So...

Re: Starting work 2 June but havn't received my british pass

I do wonder however: Isn't it a legal requirement for all British citizens to show a UK travel document when entering the UK? No it is not a legal requirement, many UK nationals have dual citizenship. So long as Amy20 can satisfy the IO on arrival that she is a UK national-by whatever method-eg cop...

Re: Can I enter UK as a tourist before my Visa starts?

Hi everyone, Just a query which I haven't really been able to find a clear answer for so I thought I'd spell out my situation here. I'm going to the UK on an Ancestry Visa (from Aus), and it will be valid from mid-august 2011. My query is however, will I still be able to enter the UK on 20 July 201...

It is so NOT true that you can't obtain a Nigerian passport in the UK. I have many Nigerian friends who have done just that, as the old MRZ passports are now no longer valid for travel and have to be replaced with e-passports. I know it does take a while-several months- to obtain a new one, the High...

Attached thread is particularly relevant. I still stand by my posting at the time. A lot of IOs are still not conversant with the no stamping/landing card exemption. However, the poster did come across as rather too belligerent. Next time just POLITELY point out to the IO what the regulations state, ...

Hi, Do they have the right to ask british citizens if your partner is married and that your kids. Also, they asked the kids is that your father or you being kidnapped? Isn't this illegal? Thanks. Yes they do have a right to ask such questions, although I find it difficult to believe an Immigration ...

On the basis of that evidence and speaking as an IO, she should be fine.
The only thing I would suggest you add is a travel insurance policy to cover
the period she will be in the UK. This will add to her credibility as a genuine visitor.

As for IOs identifying themselves, there is no rule that says they must identify themsleves by name, many choose not to. I think it is perfectly understandable why. In this day and age of easy communication it would be so easy for a malicious passenger to put an IOs name out on the internet and comp...

Assuming your girlfriend is an American citizen, as a consequence of that, a non-visa national, she could enter 6 months prior to her course, and then apply for student visa in the UK before the commencement of her course. That way, she would have accrued six months prior to the start of the course,...

She's arriving a week on Saturday, so it's obviously too late to apply for a change in visa status for this visit. Is this impending visit for six months? Who said this is the case.? As far as I know such passports are still stamped, the ICFN number is normally hand-written at the top of the stamp.
