Method of Payment for tier 1 extension

Has any one payed tier 1 visa extension fee by using VISA DEBIT card? The application form says that VISA CREDIT card can be used. But when I called home office they told VISA DEBIT card can also be used. I have HSBC VISA DEBIT CARD. Just want to be sure if any one had recently done so.

ILR calculation from the date visa stamped/first entry to uk

Any one know how the ILR caluculation for 5 years made? Does it start from the date the visa was first stamped or from the date first entered UK?
