Does your Partner not have family here? If they have suitable accomodation it might be possible for them to provide you both with a letter inviting you stay at their place until such time as you can secure your own accomodation. As for savings, I do not know if there is specific guidance, but I beli...

P.S Sharing accomodation is normally considered to be OK. As long as the place is big enough. That guidance should steer you in the right direction. Good luck!

Why not refer to the guidance in a covering letter if you want to refer to it? You should also find the relevant section applicable to you in this guidance which is what Immigration Officials refer to when considering applications? http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/documents/policyandlaw...

ILR - Spouse visa - time out of UK

I have spent about 5 months out of the UK (mainly due to family emergency). My sponsor travelled with me for this time. The rules do not state that you have to have been in the UK the whole time and we can show we are still together and have been so in the UK for all the time. I know there is a disc...

ILR - Time outside in excess of 90 days.

Dear All I am an unmarried partner of a British Citizen with leave granted for a period of two years. Early on (and before we had been able to properly settle) a close relative in my home country became ill, was hospitalised, and I was required to return to my home country to assist with their care ...

settlement visa issue

I have a settlement visa with my partner. I have yet to activate it but will do so shortly. However, an issue has come up, and a new opportunity may come up. If I relocate with my partner from the US to the UK (as I am entitled to do by the visa) and then decide that the opportunity back in the US i...

Australia to the UK - Tax Implications

Hello all. I am presently relocating from Oz to the UK where I intend to work. I am in the process of sorting out my spouse settlement visa now and I am intending to live permanently in the UK with my spouse. I am having trouble working out whether I have to pay both UK and Australian taxes for my i...

Thanks for the great replies. They are really helpful. Does anyone know the current processing times at the Canberra HC? They say the general aim is 3 months but most are done in 5-10 days but spouse visas may take longer.

If I am successful in the visa application it is my understanding that this goes into my Aussie Passport. However, if I wanted to travel throughout the EU would my visa be valid for entry into those countries (as a spouse of a uk citizen and eu national?) or would I enter under my Aussie passport an...

uk spouse visa from australia

Thanks to all the great contributors at the site. It has been an informative read. I am currently in the process of applying for a UK settlement visa on the basis of my current relationship with my unmarried partner. I am based in Australia. I think we meet the criteria. However, I noted with intere...
