Re: Naturalisation application queries

Agree with above... I would not take the risk of using a referee declaration with false signature which it could be considered. If they're not able to one way or another (and there are various ways you could do such) create their signature for putting onto document in electronic format then default ...

Re: To prove a five-year stay in the UK

Does the time spent waiting for the result begin with the online application or with the submission of supporting documents at the biometric appointment? Study of the timelines very strongly suggests online application but as above obviously they cannot process application without the biometrics an...

Re: Applying for British Citizenship after ILR and time away from UK

Sorry I missed the comment "she is due to fly out again next week" above....hmmm Yeah not enough time realistically to ensure biometrics can be done and all documents gotten together like referees. All bad timing I'd say.... my advice would depend on whether further trips planned in coming...

Re: Applying for British Citizenship after ILR and time away from UK

she will be away for more than 45 days, is it possible to make an online application for naturalisation while being away from UK. (i.e at the time of application she will be outside UK) and but will come back to do the bio within 45 days. and just also wanted to know what happens if she does not co...

Re: Applying for British Citizenship after ILR and time away from UK

cheers, I was reading https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/650b089027d43b001491c319/Guide_AN_-_Oct_2023.pdf (page 13) there is a table for 3 year route, am I right in interpreting there is leniency till up to 179 days absence in the last 12 months? or has anyone got into trouble just beca...

Re: Applying for British Citizenship after ILR and time away from UK

thanks all for the replies. I myself was ILR->BC, but I was a BC (British Citizen) when she was given ILR, so she is on 3 year route? the thing is I filled out form for her and got up to the stage where it asks for referee, but don't think it asked anywhere for details of time spent outside U.K. am...

Re: Applying for British Citizenship after ILR and time away from UK

Hi, My wife had ILR which is expiring in Nov 2024. She was contemplating applying for British Citizenship and has delayed till now. But, reading here https://www.gov.uk/apply-citizenship-indefinite-leave-to-remain seems like there is a requirement on time away from UK, I initially thought it only a...

Hi all, I have a question if someone can clarify please. I am a British citizen my wife is on a spouse visa. Re: Naturalisation as spouse of British Citizen queries

Hi All, Referee 1 on the online form is BC and either professional or over the age of 25. Referee 2 on the online form is of any nationality and of professional standing. However the description on the declaration forms are opposite to those above I.e. Referee 1 and 2 descriptions have been exchang...

To be honest I think you got good advice above but it has been insufficient it seems to persuade them of good character once followed. The lack of experience of such cases on the board may present an issue of advising and you may benefit from a specialist lawyer... especially one who regardless of n...

Re: Neutralisation Nov 2023

The first timelines for approved early November 2023 applications were posted earlier today in the relevant thread which is perhaps where you'll be best served for timeline info. This fits with most recent approvals shifting to mid to late October applications.

Re: Applying for BC-Some Queries

I don't think having a British passport is a requirement to act as referee - it does make it easier for HO to check their records and makes it more straightforward. As for the based in the UK point, both these things are not made explicit in the guidance, so it is difficult to say for surez we can ...

Re: Applying for BC-Some Queries

...oh and to add given the above discussion.... it doesn't seem clear as to whether the non British referee needs to be living in the UK but I would say don't take risk and only use UK based referees for UK based application. I know it can be a damned pain getting referees... and frankly it is a sha...

Re: Applying for BC-Some Queries

I have managed to get two referees, one not British but of professional standing and another British above 25 but without a British Passport. This referee according to me is also a professiona...

Do we need to upload the passport’s of the refeeres as well? Where can I find a list of all the evidences? The naturalisation booklet doesn’t have any information about the files we should upload. Maybe the best thing to do is do the application... you don't have to submit it... you can complete it...

Re: Not able to book Citizenship ceremony

Ceremony will be done at the Local Council where you live and pay Council Tax. It should be same as the one you provided in your application. Every city council has a dedicated number, all that you need to do is call them. You can get those details in council's website Yes, but it's not linked to w...

Re: Neutralisation Nov 2023

Neutralisation - I think the Daleks deal with this. But seriously... I'm watching the timelines and although there's clear variation in timelines and some are taking longer than is typical... you're looking at around 3.5 months from application date to approval. As above... at the moment those appli...

3 - the ceremony day.... something you will get up to 90 days to book after decision to approve British citizenship. What we do know is that straightforward applications seem to be taking around 3.5 months to be approved. As others suggest I'd really be tempted to wait until the law changes in Germa...

Re: Naturalisation as spouse of British Citizen queries

The lack of responses is because of agreement most likely with advice given. I agree with it. On your point 3...we included full scan of passport of spouse (me) but that is probably beyond the photopage likely sufficient. If anxious then scan and upload it in full. On your point 2 - this is your nat...
