Re: Referees for British citizenship application

To add...

Here is the Referee Declaration form (it says first but it is generic to any)

Re: Referees for British citizenship application

Thank you for this. For example, I'm not happy that they can see my relationship status on the application. Best, The referees will be signing to say to the best of their knowledge your application details are correct. Your referees therefore could ask to see your application form before it is subm...

Re: Dates at previous address

As above.... the dates you actually lived at addresses. I would clarify any anomalies of data/facts such as this in a cover letter but only if a case worker looking at your application will see such and I am not sure they would regarding contractual documents for residence as I cannot see a reason y...

Re: naturalisation and time limit on tests

thanks again. I tried resetting the password, but it comes back saying 'account is locked'. I may have to phone them. does anyone know/remember how they used to send out results ? is it a paper certificate given by the center or do they email, if they email what email from? I'm trying to think back...

Re: naturalisation and time limit on tests

Just checking I can't find my wife's email for Life in the UK pass so perhaps none were ever sent when she did her test in 2020. However... you should be able to use her email address to try logging into the Life in the UK test/booking site. It is highly likely the account is locked or blocked now s...

Re: naturalisation and time limit on tests

thanks for the answers. I have English test reference, but the application does not seem to ask for it. it only asks for Life in the Uk test reference, which I do not have and searched both my email and hers - can't find it. Anyone remember how they used to send out results? is it email only? if so...

Re: Citizenship Application by Post via AN

Oh.. on Q2.6 of form I'd write N/A or leave blank as it is irrelevant in this case.. again a reminder that a paper form cannot respond intelligently as input is given... she has ILR so the question doesn't need to be asked.

Re: Citizenship Application by Post via AN

Just to add... evidently the advantage of online application is it is far simpler to complete and avoids many irrelevant questions. I think a lot of these queries arise purely based on the format of the application (e.g. Q2 raised would not exist for electronic application as you'd online specify wh...

Re: Naturalisation application

Another Question:

For referees who have not lived at current address for the last 3 years it asks for details of previous addresses.

Obviously you need to provide those addresses - do you need to provide dates.. if so will month/year do?

Re: Naturalisation application

Thank you...

A cheeky follow up question.

Consent form - I recall people reporting them adding this to the documents required. Will this appear along with referee forms as required to download and complete for upload at the end of the application?

Naturalisation application

Quick queries. Wife will apply to naturalise. 1. I presume it is okay to travel abroad after submitting application? 2. Professional referee. I know their professions list is not exhaustive. What opinion do people have on whether the following would be considered acceptable - our friend describes hi...

Re: Citizenship ceremony venue change

She can choose her council/venue when she applies, the option is there in the online application form. I have chosen mine as opposed to going with my local one, purely because my local council does one ceremony every two months whilst the one I chose does ceremonies every week. Naturalisation certi...

Re: Citizenship ceremony venue change

Hi, in my own opinion you don't have to change your venue. You can always come to your venue to do the ceremony. New or old address is not required or barrier. It's all about you, your presence. Just an opinion. A disabled person travelling a thousand miles round trip on public transport for the ce...

Citizenship ceremony venue change

Dear learned friends, Quick query. Wife can apply for naturalisation. We are in process of buying house well over 400 miles from where we currently live. It is entirely possible, if not probable given quick scan of timelines, that if she applied soon then we would move during the processing of the a...

ILR - Sponsor proof of benefits

Hi all! In around 3 months my wife will be applying for ILR Set(M) on 5 year partner route. I currently receive Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and so she only needs to meet the maintenance test. I was in receipt of Income Related ESA (IR-ESA) but this has stopped as I have applied for Universal...

Re: Can I book in advance more than one Life in the UK test?

I wouldn't even bother with the book... you can get the text online on various sites. But importantly at least one site has exams in the actual test format that cover a high percentage of facts tested. Passing the test should be very easy by focusing on those tested facts. As above a few hours effor...

Re: Heartless government to increase IHS from £400 to £625 as part of hostile policy

£625 is a bargain! Speak to someone eg US Citizen and ask them what they think. To me the issue is not necessarily the IHS but the value of paying for a UK Visa. The UK is a shadow of what it once was. Quite simply its almost impossible to make a decent living in this country. Unless you have bundl...

Re: Heartless government to increase IHS from £400 to £625 as part of hostile policy

Asking for £625 is a hostile policy? I beg to differ. A hostile policy would have been asking for £20'000 health surcharge. £625 this less than what I pay in a month of National Insurance contributions. I am not even complaining about it. This is how an organised society works. We all need to pay t...

Re: How to pass 'Life in the UK, A guide for new residents' official book, 3rd edition published at 28 Jan 2013? :)

Agree with the '15 exams' advice above. It covers vast majority of facts tested. Some questions rephrased and answer options different. The text is now quite out of date... I note that both the longest serving monarch and number of North Irish Assembly members have changed since publication and I pr...

Re: I haven't got a Life in the uk pass Confirmation Letter

There is no pass letter now. You'll have a unique reference sent to you by email to use in applications. The result and that unique reference will be on the LITUK booking system - look for the Results tab. My wife recently passed and the email and result tab update were done before she was able to t...
