Re: First adult passport

I just wanted to follow up on this topic if anyone comes across the same question. My passport application was approved today without sending a passport from my home country. I explained the situation to HMPO and it wasn’t an issue. So I only sent my naturalisation certificate and a copy of my ID ca...

When I applied, I didn’t send any originals. Only black and white uncertified copies and never had any issues.

First adult passport

Hi everybody, I would like to apply for my first British passport in some time. I live in an EU country (dual national) and have never owned a passport from this country. Only an identity card (with which I am able to travel anywhere within the EU) In the guideline it says I should send any valid pa...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

I had my ceremony today and am finally a British citizen. I decided my journey is over for now as I am not going to apply for my passport straight away. I don’t need a visa to travel to the UK, so I can take my time. Thank you all for your input to this forum. It has helped me a lot. I might still b...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

I am beginning to think about all the things I need for my ceremony on Thursday. (Including my outfit 8) What documents did you take with you? In the Email from the consulate it only says ID or passport. Is that it? I’ve printed their confirmation of the time and date just to be on the safe side. An...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

Really? They kept it for a month before sending it? This won’t help you as I live in a totally different part of the world - they sent mine a day after the approval. The letter said sept 4th and I was told my certificate was sent on sept 5th I received the invitation to the ceremony on Oct 10th I th...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

I’ve been told by the HO that they send the certificate by post to the embassy in the respective country. The embassy then sends it to the consulate which will hold your ceremony. So you are dependant on a) the postal service and b) the embassy I think I was very lucky as we have very fast postal se...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

I was totally surprised by the arrival of the email today. I wouldn’t call it coincidence though. I wrote the email to HO yesterday (just wanted to know which consulate it would be) and then the email from the consulate (nearby!) came today. And it’s only been 5 weeks since approval. Anyway, I’m hap...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

Would be interesting to know how often consulates have ceremonies.
I don’t think there are many in my area...

I write an email to HO today, asking which consulate will contact me. I was too curious and couldn’t wait any longer :-)

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

It’s been 5 weeks from the day my approval was issued and they went by pretty fast.
But now my patience is coming to an end and waiting seems to be one of the hardest things in the world to me

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

Enjoy your ceremony an Wednesday! Did you count the 6 weeks from the day the approval was issued or from the day you actually received it? I waited about 6 weeks for the invitation from approval. The ceremony is this Wednesday! On another group they are saying they wait on average 12 weeks here in S...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

Sorry - didn’t mean to be rude when I didn’ answer that question. I just prefer to keep some details out of the internet. Anyway, I decided to just wait and see. If it’s the embassy in the capital instead of the consulate, I am sure I could change it. just checked my downloaded copy of the applicati...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

just checked my downloaded copy of the application and indeed there was one question: Do you want to attend a citizenship ceremony in a different local council (if in the UK), high commission or embassy (if overseas)? I answered NO, but maybe I should have selected YES and would then have been able ...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

It says September 4th So indeed a quick decision since biometric enrolment. When did they tell you which consulate you would have the ceremony in? Or did YOU tell THEM at some stage? I’m just hoping I don’t need to travel too far as it’s always such a problem finding someone for my kids during that ...
