Why can't your company just say that you're working from the office? I've had 3 WPs and they have never asked that.

OK, so I know that you can apply for ILR 5 years from the date you entered the country on the WP - but what about if you were already in the country (on a WHM visa) when it was issued, thus meaning that you didn't need to 'enter the country'. You shouldn't have a problem, you're on maternity leave, you're still employed, right? Get in touch with your employer to check they have the forms moving along nicely.

[quote="Miami"] Many thanks, Timefactor and VictoriaS. However, I feel that I need to rephrase my question as that's not what I was asking. I intend to apply for ILRin the next few weeks. I have been employed on a workpermit since 22Nov 2002 (until now). However I have been offered another...

Hello - I've changed employment twice now (on my 3rd work permit). Both times I have changed employment, I have got my new work permit first. It doesn't take very long, generally 5-10 working days. It's the Leave to Remain that takes longer, but thankfully you don't need this to start work. "2....

I've not found it difficult - only lengthy sometimes and costly (always). I think it's about £350 for the Leave to Remain (which is the EC you are talking about).
It's rare for it to be knocked back if you have the WP. I've done it successfully 3 times now.
