Yes, we'll be travelling together on holiday back to NZ. I've heard numerous stories as to the drilling people have got at heathrow when coming through to Ireland. I don't hold an EU family permit because we are living in Ireland and he's Irish. Not sure if this makes a difference?

I'll be going through Heathrow (unfortunately) to Dublin in December. I hold a stamp 4 (issued through the Irish domestic immigration laws due to marriage to an Irish citizen). Any idea which queue we should use at heathrow? I've never actually flown through there before (can't avoid it this time un...

Canadians are not visa required, hence there will be no need to apply for a D-spouse visa. These are for people from countries that require a visa to visit Ireland. I'm not entirely sure what's best but other people have run into problems when trying to change their status within the country (i.e. ...

I found it extremely easy to get a stamp 4 based on marriage to an irish national (in comparison to getting a spouse visa for my home country!). Arrived at the border and went through with my spouse. Showed our marriage certificate to the immigration officer and told to register with a GNIB officer ...

You can only apply for Irish citizenship after 3 years if your spouse is an Irish national and you've been in the country for a minimum of three years and married to your spouse for 3 years. Otherwise it is 5 years.
Cheers.

Hi there, as a non-visa required national it is not possible to get issued with a 'spouse visa' which would be a stamp 4 (allowed to work without a work permit) until you are in the country. The three month notice period is only for marriages that occur within Ireland. The way I did it was to show u...

It was a simple process for me, as you described, to get a stamp 4 based on marriage to an irishman. I only got one year, and will need to go back next year with a marriage certificate, both passports, spouse and proof of address. I totally agree with you - I was given advice that I'd have to wait 6...

I've recently been through a similar situation. I'm from New Zealand, and married my Irish fiance outside of the country. I entered the country on the basis of my marriage (I had my marriage certificate and went through the queue with my husband). I was told to register at the garda station where I ...

Hi, I asked a similar question yesterday when I went in to register. I'll be running out of visa stamp pages in my passport in a little while, and found out my country no longer consider it secure to add additional visa pages, so I'll have to get a new passport well before it's expiry. The immigrati...

I've been to the GNIB today to register as the spouse of an irish citizen (I'm a New Zealander). It was relatively painless, and I received a stamp 4 for one year (I will be granted the remainder of the 5 year period next year as the immigration officer said they didn't know us). I had married my no...

Hi, I'm not surprised you got told you'd have to wait up to 6 months for residency/stamp 4. I was told the same thing by the Irish Consulate in Auckland. A few posts here may give you some guidance as to what to do. http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewtopic.php?t=20343 http://www.immigrationboards....

Hey, Just a note, they shouldn't be charging you €100, being the spouse of an irish citizen. Says so on this webpage: http://www.citizensinformation.ie/categories/moving-country/moving-to-ireland/rights-of-residence-in-ireland/registration-of-non-eea-nationals-in-ireland/?searchterm=registration%2...

Is there a difference in procedure depending on whether someone marries within the country, rather than marrying overseas? From what I read, the procedure can be straight forward, but others are seemingly waiting periods of time that are just too long (ten months is just a ridiculous amount of time ...

That's a complete shambles - ten months to find out? is that for EU1? I'd be exempt from that? So, in general, are the steps I have to take as follows? 1. Show up at Dublin airport with my spouse and get a stamp and a note to visit the GNIB, as I'm not visa required. 2. Go to the GNIB with our marri...

Non visa required spouse of Irish citizen

I'm from a non-visa required nation and am considering moving to Ireland with my irish spouse. Does anyone know what I need to do? I asked the Irish consulate in my country and they said something about having to apply for residency and that taking 6 months or so and that I cannot work in the meanti...
