Re: Foreign Birth Registration

11 days of ‘processing’ on my passport application and they emailed today to tell me they have rejected the photo I sent (exactly the same one that they accepted for the FBR certificate  ). Still, their country, their rules (my country now :) ) I’ll use the photo resubmission link. Is it a di...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Oops, my mistake. Documents were received today (17th), whereas the application was initiated when I paid the money online

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

My passport application was received 12th Feb and is now set as 'Processing'. Estimated issue date is 16th March.
My (completely arbitrary) target date of St Patrick's Day (17th March) is looking under threat :(

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Just applying for my Irish passport now after finally being accepted onto the FBR. Am I reading this correctly? Do I need to send my full UK passport along with my application or just a certified copy? As long as I have it back within 3 months that's fine but I just wanted to check! I thought that ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Has there been any inkling that the Irish gov May remove the grandparent descent FBR route?? I believe it is in the Irish constitution and would therefore require a referendum to remove. It's also in the constitution that non-resident Irish nationals (what we are hoping to become!) have no entitlem...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Incidentally, my boss was getting jealous because he thought we applied at the same time, but he just tracked down his email and realised he didn't get his application in until April. I persuaded him to ring up and he learned that the delay has extended again after March, so he now faces a month or ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I just received the official congratulations email! So timeline was; Payment taken 12th March 2019 Email acknowledging receipt in Ireland 19th March 2019 Request for extra info, which I provided, leading to email telling me unofficially that application had been approved 13th Jan 2020, and warning o...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Woo-hoo! I think I'm Irish! Just received a reply to my request to confirm they had received my two follow-up documents. The lady confirmed that they had been received and that my application has been approved. The FBR certificate will take 6-10 weeks to come though, due 'volume of applications', so...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I'll be drinking Guinness this lunchtime; I got through to the lovely lady at the FBR section (xxxxxx) who said she would accept a business card as evidence that my witness is genuine (already pinched one off witness's desk). So I only have to send in two documents, both of which have been obtained,...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Found the number (website is very easy to navigate; +353 1 671 1633), got through within a minute and spoke to a guy who was able to retrieve all my details very quickly. He suggested that they would send out a new form for re-witnessing the document, since I couldn't comply with the headed letter r...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

Thanks to this excellent thread, I was already aware that my application might be approaching its end (email acknowledging receipt of application 19th March 2019). Today I got my first indication - an email requesting more info  They say they couldn't reach the solicitor (lawyer in my office) ...

Well after recent events I have a feeling another wave of applications might be on its way!
God yes! My application now feels rather urgent (it isn’t really), and I am eager to hold my new passport

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

It's so reassuring to have found this forum after sending off all my precious documents into the void! Three people in my team applied at the same time (Mar 2019). One had an Irish parent so was going straight for passport. My team leader and I were both relying on a grandparent so applied for FBR c...
