He is right Jeff. Its pure Western hypocrisy to host "Make Poverty History" whilst being ruthless to the very people whose foreign remmitances put bread and butter on the table of millions of people in third world countries. I am all for immigration controls but at the same time I also bel...

Any truth to this story? Well, it's the Daily Mail, so I wouldn't rely on it for truthfulness on anything, least of all immigration. Nobody as yet knows how many people will be regularised, not even the Home Office. Agreed, I have been following Daily Mail stories on immigration for quite some time...

This is your typical Daily Mail. A few months ago they said 250,000 asylum seekers to get amnesty because of legacy backlog now its down to 166,000 assuming that 37% of all legacy backlog cases will be granted. Daily Mail and other tabloids also said 95% of the cases would be granted. My point is th...

Yeah but did the letter say Case Resolution Directorate or Case Resolution Programme etc. If it did then its a legacy questionnaire.

I am sure others will reply but your case is very strong because the Home Office runs a regularisation programme for families with small children who have been living in this country for 7 years even if you didnt qualify under legacy. So you have a good chance, in my view. Think others will agree. I...

Legacy Case / CRP question

Hi I posted in CRP thread before but noone replied. Would long-term non-asylum cases be treated as a Legacy case, for instance currently our application is with the home office for almost a year (article 8) and we have either been in touch with the home office or in appeal process for past 7 years. ...

I know of a similar case where a woman with 2 daughters was granted ILR, she claimed her life was in danger in Pakistan (a diff case than the one mention above though), she has been given a British passport, never worked a single day and been on benefits ever since she received the initial refugee s...

Two weeks ago I read an article about immigration and it said the the clearance of the Legacy backlog can be perceived as a full amnesty and another articles said thats its a back door amnesty. I cant find the link now. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/10/14/nasylum114.xml

I wanted to ask you whether CRP includes non-asylum cases or any of your non-asylum clients have been issued with a legacy letter or questionnaire.

yes but is it that straightforward though? If they grant ELR or ILR its all good but if they attempt to remove people then they disappear or sometimes its impossible to track them down. I also read a few stories in the press where people were asked to wait 10 months before they can actually be remov...

Yes i wont be surprised if this happened because in order to clear the entire legacy backlog they need to grant/remove/resolve 10,000 cases a month and I dont think they can achieve that. I personally know so many people who are not in touch with the home office, have changed their addresses etc so ...

Article 8 and compassionate grounds for overstayers

My case is a bit complicated. I entered UK on 6 months visitor's visa as a dependent of my parents. I was 17 at the time. My father then applied for extension as Retired Person of independent means which was refused for having no entry clearance and that he was not 60 years old at the time, our soli...
