1-Year work visa for Canadian citizen - not a student!

Hi Everyone, I am going crazy looking for the visa that would apply to my situation. I am a Canadian citizen, living in Ireland since 2005, who wants to go to the US to work for 12 months. I am not a student nor in a sponsorable career. I remember they used to offer working holiday visas to students...

Funnily enough we were having trouble awhile back and although I suggested it to him he refused to go as he didn't think it was 'anyone else's business' etc. Very Irish response! So I went to a psychotherapist on my own for about 8 months. A week after my last session was when I discovered he had ch...

+1 Again If my personal case was looked at at the moment I've no doubt I'd be under investigation for breaking 'the rules'. If i had faith that the people in charge would assess each individual case in a fair, unbiased way than maybe I would be for a bit of immigration handbook-revising :). Unfortun...

Thanks for the replies. In response to the questions from Obie: 1. Have you got any child with this man. No no children thank god! I'm only 24 so that isn't going to be a bother for awhile! :) 2. How long have you been lawfully living in Ireland (student excluded). I will have been here for four yea...

Just noticed at the end of your post you said that I may be told to seek a work permit. Does this mean I will be back at square one - ie will need to find a sponsor? If that is the case I will be caught I think as not many people here would be willing to sponsor a foreigner when there aren't as many...

thank you so much for the quick reply Ok so I have a bit to be hopeful for at the very least! Who exactly do I inform and how do I do so? Should I just go in to the GNIB in my area? I'm a bit worried to talk to them to be honest as I would imagine they wouldn't be impressed to hear I am not living w...

Irish Spouse has cheated - what does this do to app?

I'm hoping someone can help. I've been married to an Irish citizen for almost three years. I'm North American and returned home at Christmas to see family. While I was away my husband went on several dates and slept with another woman. We have been living apart since then obviously. I am at a comple...

My sympathies IrishHusband. I am in a similar position in my own marriage - however on the other end of the GNIB-spectrum. I posted a message awhile back asking what would happen to me since my Irish husband left our home. I have yet to get a solid answer as the written rules on this sort of thing a...

SWAP is the name of the visa Canadians can get - it's a working holiday visa that is valid for one year and non-renewable. My first year in the country I was on this visa so I can't apply for it again. The only ancestral link I have is my great-grandparents. Three of them were born here. But it's on...

I just received a reply from the Immigrant Council of Ireland. It's a bit scary: "Once you have been registered in the State as the spouse of an Irish national your residency in the State is valid as long as you are still married or in co-habitation with the Irish national , so at this stage th...

No. I'm 24 and since arriving I've done pretty casual work (temping, nanny-ing) to meet people. I don't really have the specified qualifications that would help me out (i.e. sponsorship). I'm working at NUI now but on a contract basis.

Irish husband wants divorce - I'm Non-EU

I'm REALLY hoping someone can help me out with this! I posted a similar message awhile back and I didn't really find any definite answers. I'm a Canadian who married an Irish guy over a year ago. He moved out months ago and wants nothing to do with me. It turns out his cold feet came after the weddi...

Is there anywhere that would have concrete information on this? I'm interested actually in HOW MEAN the system could be. ;) I find it hard to believe that the DOJ would kick someone out of the country - seeing as they could have been here for a long time before the marriage ended.

Divorce??

Just a question out of curiosity...*knock on wood!* :P If a marriage between an Irish citizen and a non-Irish citizen breaks down, what are the options for the person who was originally from outside the country? will they be asked to leave? does anyone know what the procedure is in regards to what i...

Very impressive. Just after I wrote that post I got through! Just thought I would report what I was told in case anyone is interested. He said I need: 1) my passport, and my husband (Irish) needs to come in with his passport 2) Because we have changed houses in the last nine months, proof of address...

Re-newing Spousal visa (GNIB stamp)

Hi there! I have been calling the Galway Immigration Office since last week and it just rings and rings and rings....talk about great customer service eh? I'm hoping someone here might be able to help. First off, I'm Canadian. Last year I married my Irish boyfriend (December) and I received a stamp ...
