Re: Gap in Irish residency when applying for citizenship

Although you meet the residency requirement, a gap of more than 90 days between residency permissions is a very serious one. This basically means that you were living in the country illegaly and I would be more concerned about your status rather that the outcome of citizenship application. However, ...

Re: Citizenship applications - return of passports

chrisinpm, the passports we are talking about are non-Irish passport that are posted with the application for Irish citizenship. Passports are then examined and returned to the applicants so they could travel. It would normally take a month or so to get them back, but with this corona thing it's tak...

Re: irish citizenship-CMU4 Team

I'm afraid nobody here can tell you at which exact stage your application is at the moment. Proceeded is a very general word, and it can mean anything related to the processing of your application. Everyone's application is different, just wait and eventually something will come out of it. Some peop...

Re: Citizenship applications - return of passports

I have submitted mine in March as well, and heard nothing since then. They resumed processing through the backlog this month so hopefully those who submitted passport in March and April will be getting them back by the end of August.

Re: Wife Citizenship - Border Control Question

Your wife will be allowed to enter the State if she provides her FBR certificate. She will probably get a warning from the border control officer and will be told to get a passport next time, as Irish citizens must enter the country using Irish passport. Marriage certificate will also be helpful. Re...

Re: 18 day gap in stamps

In any case if you plan to go on holiday this summer or a business trip anytime soon, submitting application is not a great idea, as your passport will not be returned quickly, putting your travels at risk.

Re: 18 day gap in stamps

I strongly suggest you to wait until January of 2021 before applying. 1 year residency requirement has not been overturned. The outcome of that case was to allow legal residents to spend up to 6 weeks per year outside of the country without any affect on the citizenship application. You were living ...

Re: Stamp 1 to Stamp 4 Immigration Status

If you don't have a permission right now, you might want to come to Ireland as a de-facto partner of an Irish citizen and this will also give you Stamp 4 permission, for which you will need to pay 300 euro, however those will be free of charge for you after you get married. I assume that getting wor...

Re: Stamp 1 to Stamp 4 Immigration Status

Hi there. Yes, when you eventually get married, you will be entitled to Stamp 4 permission. This will eliminate the need of having a work permit to work in Ireland, you can take any job you wish or create your own business. No matter what permission you have at the moment, if you have any. Once you ...

Re: Stolen GNIB card

But that's absolutely sensible if the person doesn't have the card as the topic starter. I can only guess what type of visa they will have to apply for, as re-entry visas are not issued anymore. There must be some kind of emergency visa for such occasions when person is only required to prove they h...

Re: Stolen GNIB card

- If your original IRP is not expired, you should still obtain a visa to make sure that the airline may allow you to board the flight. - It should be noted that entry to the State is always at the discretion of the immigration officer at the port of entry. This part of the response doesn't make any...

Re: Stolen GNIB card

Gnib card is a registration certificate not a visa nor an ID card. In case if the Gnib card is lost or stolen the passenger can travel with their visa stamp but they would need a police certificate. Airlines do ask for a GNib card but stamp may suffice. The only hassle is explaining the circumstanc...

Re: Question about new visa extension in Ireland

Hi Amy. If you husband is from a country citizens of which can visit Ireland for 3 months without obtaining a visa, then he most likely will be able to stay for 3 months. Obviously it depends on individual circumstances. Visa-free arrangements between different countries do not guarantee that a pers...

Re: Procedure to obtain a record of GNIB stamps?

The correct address. Send the, a letter and you'll get a response in a week. However, if you have copies of your previous GNIB cards then I won't bother doing this as the information that they provide you will be exactly the same as per your GNIB cards. If you want to apply for naturalisation, just ...

Re: Mismatch stamps on my passport with my GNIB

I had a situation very similar to the one that OP explained. I also live in Cork and in Cork they normally place a new permission stamps upon receiving new IRP card. It does create a confusion in particular for those who renewed their card when they're about to expire. In my case I renewed them a da...
