Re: FLR Application - Struggling to Achieve Required Points

Why don't you get a second part-time job to boost your earnings? Alot of people have two jobs. Hi, Came to UK under HSMP in Sept 2004. Got the leave extended till Sept 2008 in Sept 2005. Now due to change in rules need to apply again for FLR for one year and then will be eligible to apply for ILR. C...

SYH relax mate. This guy (the overstayer) is just plain scared right now. I bet his reason for overstaying was sheer determination to complete the degree. Good for him - degree is for life!!!! Mate, your intentions where to get the degree, you got it now go get some work experience back home. Its un...

Try Manchester as well. But leave asap. Imagine, heaven forbid, that you are caught somehow on the streets or they track you down, pay you a visit and get deported. A graduate deportee....not god. You can always find a solid job. You have a degree and need not be desperate to stay or prolong your st...

Re: igs or hsmp????

Your friend assumes the UK immigration system is constant and rules are permanently fixed. Your friend is playing the wrong game. No question about it. Tell your friend to go for the best visa in town - HSMP Hi There, My friend has been living in the UK for 7 years and has just completed an MBA from...

You have not explained your case well. Can you please answer the following: Have you finished your MBA? Do you have the degree certificate? You say you are on a student visa. Are you studying something else? Why did you do an out-of-country instead of in-country application? If you are so convinced ...

Re: HSMP to Highly Skilled Tier 1 - General sub-category

Many including myself are in the same situation. I understand that statement to mean that: 1. When its time to renew, the points for age will remain fixed from the first time the application was made (in your case 10 points will be carried forward). And I hope there will be a provision for this on t...

Makes sense. Although English is the official language of South Africa and Zimbabwe, its not the first (mother tongue) language. English is however both the official and first language of Jamaica, NZ, USA, Australia, Trinidada, Bahamas and so on... It's interesting that the countries included for th...

If it made you feel better for doing it, respect to you. However, there are no "brownie points" for being honest with the HO. Thats the one place where "sometimes" honesty (or ignorance) gets you in a TIGHT FIX. At the end of the day everyone once in there lives will resort to se...

True that. The only statement on the HO page is: Jacqui Smith said "That’s why we’re launching the countdown to our new Points Based System which will begin in less than 100 days." - 5 December 2007 Until the final guidelines come out...there will be some noise, assumptions and misinte...

Re: new system

Trial countries - India and USA. I suspect as someone mentioned earlier, India due to the quantity of apps and USA due to the quality of apps. I strongly believe that the "one system" (as opposed to the 2 stage system) will lead to longer application times and backlogs. I suspect that in s...

Re: New EC Rule...

Ravi, the changes have just been announced and we are all checking the documents and news. If you are inpatient, I suggest you contact the people who made these changes and call the Home Office directly. Maybe they will help you with an immediate answer. Hi All, I think we should avoid these legal j...

The elimination of the two stage system (with the introduction of the one system) means that EC from some countries will now take much longer because they will have to verify to the letter all documents submitted and its now a matter of luck that the EC officer is in a good mood if all your paperwor...

Ofcourse EC is still there but the two stage system (stage 1 for the 6 months HSMP approval letter and stage 2 for the visa) will be removed which is brilliant. I always thought the two stage system was a complete rip off. However, no appeal for refused EC... Intresting point --- only single applica...

Re: new system

This means that for those on a current 2 year HSMP visa will get an extension for only 2 years and need to apply again for an extra year to be eligible for ILR (2+2+1 for ILR). They should have reciprocated and also made it 2+3 as it will be for 2008 applicants who will get 3+2... It now makes sense...
