Re: General discussion on CSI and Settled Status. Big issues for people on the EEA-Applications Routes

Thank you very much everybody. For those who’ve asked: I’ve been a student and self-sufficient since I arrived in the UK in 2012. I submitted the application on 5 Feb and gave fingerprints a week later. First of congratulations! It means you didn’t have CSI in that 8 years, but would have needed it?

Re: General discussion on CSI and Settled Status. Big issues for people on the EEA-Applications Routes

I’ve seen someone being approved last week with a very recent application (beginning March), would have needed CSI for not exercising treaty rights in the last 4 years.
Didn’t ask for additional documents. Just granted.
Which is great.

Re: General discussion on CSI and Settled Status. Big issues for people on the EEA-Applications Routes

Very well said. I like that. Alright. This sounds a bit different than the original reply. I’m a full time employee and there’s a lot of employment I can provide. I had times without work (and yes without CSI), but not just lazy to work, there have been exceptional circumstances I’m able to prove. ...

Re: General discussion on CSI and Settled Status. Big issues for people on the EEA-Applications Routes

I want us all to not panic and get encouragement from the fact that at least on this forum not a single EU applicant with pending application has been asked to provide CSI, nor has been rejected for the lack of. Even more encouraging, a few EU applicants posted here that they've received approvals ...

Re: General discussion on CSI and Settled Status. Big issues for people on the EEA-Applications Routes

As I understand it, it is about the last 10 year history and there shouldn’t be times without CSI in case of being economically inactive, not about 5 years. Look at the quote above they asked here now to prove CSI for 2013 which is 7 years ago. This is the main thing from that article that caught m...

Re: General discussion on CSI and Settled Status. Big issues for people on the EEA-Applications Routes

It seems like they are now asking for CSI even from EU applicants with pending applications. Read this: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/eu-nationals-uk-citizenship-home-office-latest-a9527036.html Check out this quote: "And a second, Larissa, protested: “This has just happened t...

Re: Is CSI required for Non-EEA family member and EEA national applying for citizenship with settled status

Thank you! This is indeed very comforting for those of us waiting. Can I please check that the caseworker did not get in touch with you to ask anything regarding your CSI? CSI is ONLY relevant for people applying NOW. People who applied a few months ago will not need it. Speculations aren’t helping...

Re: Is CSI required for Non-EEA family member and EEA national applying for citizenship with settled status

I don't know where to start, I woke up this morning with the news on CSI policy change and felt hopeless about the situation. I just now received email from caseworker confirming my citizenship application has been APPROVED :D I thought this might comfort few people who are also in similar situatio...

Re: Is CSI required for Non-EEA family member and EEA national applying for citizenship with settled status

Could someone confirm with me at what date or version
the new requirement was published?
I don’t mean the guidelines for caseworker, I mean the guidelines for applicants on their official website.

Re: General discussion on CSI and Settled Status. Big issues for people on the EEA-Applications Routes

Ok, I understand. I just wanted to know why he had a rather positive attitude about it? From reading various posts everywhere which I understand are currently rather based on opinions and speculations and spread some kind of panic and fear he actually stands out which I like and agree with. Besides...

Re: General discussion on CSI and Settled Status. Big issues for people on the EEA-Applications Routes

Because there has been no change in the law (indeed, it is a return to the status quo ante as regards the interpretation about the status of EEA citizens and family members without CSI), it is quite likely that the CSI requirement will apply to applications already submitted but not decided. I have...

Re: General discussion on CSI and Settled Status. Big issues for people on the EEA-Applications Routes

Simon, agreed I won’t put my hopes up on this. But I did contact my MP to get more information and he wrote to HO. Let’s see what they say. For the case for not satisfying the criteria of CSI and would lead to a wave of refusals in a few months time it might get a lot of attention and night sound as...

Re: General discussion on CSI and Settled Status. Big issues for people on the EEA-Applications Routes

Where would you sent that form to?
Do you mean E014 or E140?

My insurance company is sending an E140.
Will this be the same and what is the process about it?

Re: General discussion on CSI and Settled Status. Big issues for people on the EEA-Applications Routes

I guess from now on we use the category “medical” in UKVCAS account? It used to one of those we could leave blank and would from now on use to upload all EHIC proof, insurance policy and documents? As I’m waiting since weeks for Biometrics, could anyone advice me to upload all these new required doc...

Re: General discussion on CSI and Settled Status. Big issues for people on the EEA-Applications Routes

Great comment thank you. I gathered all EHIC cards and attached letters (there been anyway part of my evidence documents for UKVCAS). in the beginning is a gap. My insurance just sends me a E104 document for GB. I spoke to them this morning and mentioned the issue and there been really nice, I have ...

Re: General discussion on CSI and Settled Status. Big issues for people on the EEA-Applications Routes

Having an EHIC should help I would think? “ Although you could take out CSI so that you are covered now, this unfortunately will not make a difference when you are looking to apply for permanent residence as your insurance cannot be backdated. Alternatively, you can use a European Health Insurance C...

The policy says that “once granted pre-settled status, [citizenship applicants] will not need to demonstrate that they wer...

Re: General discussion on CSI and Settled Status. Big issues for people on the EEA-Applications Routes

I also contacted Michel Barnier's team to make them aware of the issue. Email is uktf-contact@ec.europa.eu . If more people do maybe it will increase the chances it will be taken forward by them. Thank you. Will do. Another option. I just spoke to my former insurance in Europe I used before going t...

Re: General discussion on CSI and Settled Status. Big issues for people on the EEA-Applications Routes

I for my part contacted my MP yesterday and I’m in contact with him. Quite correct. That is the approach I would have recommended too. Yes, let’s see what he says. I hope I won’t be the only though. Another option would be to backdate foreign private insurance maybe? I just try to get information. ...

Re: General discussion on CSI and Settled Status. Big issues for people on the EEA-Applications Routes

I understand, Simon. Thank you. However I still have some hope the new published requirement won’t apply to those with pending applications. Because most in those cases wouldn’t applied and had all this effort regarding their application started by learning and the first £50 for Lituk test. I assume...
