Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

I think it will be interesting to see when people who submitted their biometrics when UKVCAS reopened start receiving their invitation letters. In my opinion it seems HO is prioritising printing certificates for people who submitted their biometrics pre-lockdown regardless of approval date. In my c...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Hello, so I received my approval letter (1st letter) in July . It was an attachment to an email. Can anyone confirm that the 2nd letter (invitation to ceremony) also comes attached to an email ? That would be ideal for me, because after receiving my 1st letter I moved home and could not set up mail...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Yes, citizenship is a privilege, not a right; but it's a privilege that we paid good money for and invested much of our time and efforts in the process, Therefore now we do have the right to be concerned and frustrated because we're not receiving the timely and effective service that we paid for. Th...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Guys, no invitation from the HO yet. My lawyer said she would send them a letter or email asking for an update. Any chance they'll ever reply to her. What's the best way to get in contact with HO. Thier contact number and email are useless because they never reply properly to either. Who else still...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

There's no point in copying each of your council's citizenship ceremonies pages here. We can all check our own council's page. What should be updated here is any updates from the Home Office and whether any members received their invitation letter.

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

I contacted the Home Office today and they clarified the information that a few of you brought here. Apparently, the HO started printing and sending new invitations/certificates on August 7th and we should expect to receive them by post within 10-12 weeks from August 7th onwards. To clarify: the co...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

A lot of EU citizens have applied early this year to be done with everything by the end of the year and the end of the transition period. However as the situation appears to be chaotic as councils often claim they would book people in, but HO doesn’t send any other certificates than from March it l...

I also contacted my MP today. It's been 13 weeks (!) since my application has been approved in May and not a single update from the Home Office. Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Hi everyone. Good news. My spouse applied for citizenship on March 19, 2020 before lockdown and got approval via email on May 18, 2020. Today, we received an invitation letter from Home Office to book Citizenship ceremony with the local council. The waiting is over. I believe they're now posting in...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

The Home Office as of Monday this week has just recommenced sending out certificates and invitation letters, therefore you should hear from them in due course
What a joke, every couple of days the HO claims to have restarted sending out certificates. I'm so tired of them.

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

So in other words: 1. 6 months counts from the day they send you ceremony invitation letter 2. Please don't email Home Office, they're working through the backlog 3. Please don't contact your council, they're busy enough as it is It's not 6 months count from the day they send the invitation letter,...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Totally confused, I thought I spoke with someone at the HO. The UKV&I contact centre is outsourced. First-line responses are handled by non-Home Office staff, generally with limited access to Home Office resources, while escalations are handled by Home Office staff. The UKVI Contact Centre, a d...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Just spoke to Nationality support team on ‭0300 123 2253‬ this afternoon. They are saying that we should wait for the invitation letter btw 4-8 weeks after the decision date printed on the approval. In my case it’s another 2 weeks before I can call them again. Thought to share as this might help to...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

Hi all, Thought I'd let you all know that my council has received my certificate this morning. They said the HO sends out the certificates to them via special delivery and the invitation letter posted out to me normally follows in 7-10 working days time. Don't ask me why, haha !! Timeline wise, I a...

Re: Citizenship Ceremony cancelled due to Covid-19

I discussed this with my Council. You have to receive a separate invitation letter from the Home Office to attend the ceremony, it cannot be sent by the Council.

Nobody knows how long it would take. So far NO ONE has actually received an invitation since March. Crossing my fingers that it will happen soon.

In Brent council they are starting group ceremonies tomorrow: From 20 July 2020 , we can now hold group citizenship ceremonies with a maximum number of up to 22 citizens per ceremony.
