Thanks, Benefica.
I was under the impression that it is not compulsory to apply for a residence card though? Although it is obvoius what inconveniences that may cause!

I know about the grace period..it's been nearly 6 months though. Due to various delays (husband travelling frequently, delay in getting unabridged wedding certificate from abroad, etc.- and seeing as I had to apply for a security licence I just did that so long instead. Now I'm worried HO might thin...

Right to work with no EEA2- how will BIA know?

HI, I got married a couple of months ago to an European citizen (Dutch), but have not yet applied for the EEA2 residence card. I am currently working full time based the rights inferred on me through my marriage. But how will the Border and Immigration Agency know that I am indeed working legally if...

EEA2: Payslips of sponsor or applicant?

About to submit EEA1 (for my Dutch husband) and EEA2 (for me:non-EEA national) forms - just a quick question: Do we submit my or my husband's payslips/contract of employment with the EEA2 as the form seems to say that both parties' slips are allowed? Would including only mine delay the application? ...

COA without passport or ID

Hi, Can anyone tell me if a COA can be submitted without my partner's passport (EEA national) if I include a letter stating that the passport will be sent on as soon as we have it? We've been trying since January to get my partner's passport issued from Holland and they keep mucking it up - 3rd appl...

EEA2 and undecided court case

Hi, My EU partner and I will be getting married soon and I'll be applting for a family card, but the thing that worries me is that he has a hearing in court pending for a case that has been withdrawn. The plaintiff has admitted that it was a false accusation but apparently the case still has to be t...

Ah, ok thanks.. He is Dutch. I think we'd go for the EU route then, but what if he wishes to become a British citizen, say, a year into the marriage - how would that then affect the family permit? I'm also thinking about the next UK ruling party's possible change of attitude towards EU legislation i...

EEA2 or Spouse Visa?

My partner (EU) and I (non-EU) plan to get married soon.
As he will have been living and working in the UK for five years by the time we have all the documents needed, should I apply under EU law for a family permit or as the spouse of a British Citizen?

Apparently that is only for England though - a ceremony in a Church of England church in Scotland would still require a COA (see http://www.bia.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/documents/visitingtheuk/coaguidance.pdf - 5.1 'The rules on certificates of approval do not currently apply if you plan to get...

Thanks Dawie.. Just for the record and reference of others reading this, I was under the impression that for a ceremony in the Church of England a COA is not needed though?
And is it a requirement to exchange rings at a civil ceremony?

Humanist ceremony

Does anyone know if a COA is needed for a humanist wedding? It is recognised as legally valid in Scotland but I cannot find info on that topic on the website. Also, is it required to have a ring at a civil/ humanist wedding? As my partner and I will have to rush our wedding owing to circumstances ou...
