Hi All, I paid the fee on the 23rd of November 2021 and I posted the signed declaration on the 24th of November 2021; received on the 25th of November 2021 (An Post tracking). From my understanding the online status usually moves from Submitted to Processed. Did anyone receive their certificate with...

Perfect, thank you. Those of you who got a solicitor involved, when you eventually got your approval letter did it go directly to your solicitor or was the letter posted to you? Thanks Approval letter posted to me directly. On top of the letter it says: "The content of this letter is confidenti...

Re: Naturalisation by Association / Extenuating Circumstances

Why do you want Irish Citizenship? As a British Citizen you live freely in Ireland. Ireland and UK has had this "special" arrangement for decades. It is called the Common Travel Area (CTA), look it up. It means Irish Citizens can live and work in the UK freely and so can British Citizens w...

Re: Citizenship delays: FOI and an application for an Order for Mandamus via the High Courts

Exactly that, my solicitor sent an initial letter warning that we are considering to start JR Proceedings. A solicitor can send a letter at any time. Hi All, Just a little update... I submitted my naturalisation application in June 2020. In July 2021 I decided to submit an FOI request. I got my FOI ...

Re: Citizenship delays: FOI and an application for an Order for Mandamus via the High Courts

Well according to the letter my solicitor got today it is: "Your client's application for naturalisation is being prepared for submission to the Minister. I expect that a decision will issue on your client's case within a period of 12 weeks." Hi All, Just a little update... I submitted my ...

Hi All, Just a little update... I submitted my naturalisation application in June 2020. In July 2021 I decided to submit an FOI request. I got my FOI file in August 2021. The only thing the FOI highlighted was the fact that the department requested Garda Vetting in February 2021 and that my record w...

Hi Littlerr, Do you have a link that confirms this? I don't see this in the actual act: https://www.irishimmigration.ie/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Irish-Nationality-and-Citizenship-Act-1956-Reference-Version.pdf. It is point 19 on page 18. "Revocation of certificates of naturalisation. 19.—(1) ...

For a minor you can only apply for citizenship via naturalisation once their parent has gone through naturalisation i.e. the minor has to wait till the parent is an Irish citizen.

Re: Mismatched grandmother deals

How sure are you which set of information is correct? You might have the wrong Irish birth record. People in those could have made mistakes with date of births, but the maiden name going from Dwyer to O'Hara is unlikely to be a mistake. My grandmother was born in Tipperary on August 13th 1904 as Mar...

How long were you living in the Netherlands? Would she not be entitled to Dutch citizenship via naturalisation? She is 15 at the moment so may or may not have a child before she becomes a Spanish citizen. I also found out that she will have to pay to renounce her British citizenship. Such money grab...

Re: Irish citizenship by ssociation

Only read now that you became an Irish citizen after your daughter was born. In this case she will not be eligible for Irish citizenship. For association you have to live in Ireland for at least 3 years. How old is your daughter? If she is still young then I doubt that she will have kids before she ...

Re: Irish citizenship by ssociation

If you were an Irish citizen before your daughter was born then she is entitled to Irish citizenship as well. You will have to go through the FRB process for your daughter. This is an unusual one I am an Irish citizen by fbr, my grandfather was from Ireland on my mum's side on my father's side his g...

Yes, but one can start the process with a solicitor and get them to send an initial "warning" letter or two. When I reach the 24 months mark I want to be sure I have everything in place. Hi all, I applied in June 2020 and decided to submit an FOI request 4 weeks ago. I got my FOI bac...

Citizenship Applications - 5 Year Residence and 3 Year's Married to Irish Citizen

Hi All, I am looking for some opinions... In June 2020 I submitted my naturalisation application based on 5 years legal residence in the state. I am still waiting for my approval. This month I will be married to an Irish citizen for 3 years. I did disclose my marriage in my original application, so ...

Unfortunately, because your dad wasn't registered on the FBR before you birth you are not eligible.

If your grandfather was born in Ireland you would have been eligible irrespective of your father/ mother.

Aha, married to Irish citizens. That might be the key difference. I am still hopeful of hearing something in 2021. :-) Thanks! I know it probably won’t help much, but do you know when (which month) in 2020 they applied? I don't know, did not ask. Both married to Irish citizens and applications were ...
