Hello,

I received my NI number. But have some queries.

1) Is paying NI is optional? Can I pay only tax and not NI?

2) If its optional and If I would choose not to pay NI, is there any harm in that?

fortunately i got job in my sector, one of leading uk telecom company. between my wife is also able to secure job in london.

i should say it is matter of hard work and luck to get job in your own field.

no. of dependent is zero in my passport too. in some another thread it is said that if wife has no separate passport then and then in applicant passport dependent is mentioned as 1. in our cases wife has separate passports so nil dependent. not knowing about your another query.
